Birth Defected Muffin

Seriously,
my muffin has a birth defect!

don't laugh...

Sugar-Free Spelt Chocolate Chip Muffin Raspberry  from Cascadia Bakery

is it a whale? a rhino? a hippo?

maybe the lack of sugar in it's diet was the cause ;)

Lunch was much more normal...

Leftover potatoes mashed with mayo, green onion, radishes and pepper

After finishing my second coat of painting on my
bedroom walls, I worked up a fishy craving...

Wild Salmon Salad Wrap from Planet Organic

Seafood is one of those foods I never thought i'd end up
growing to love and find my self saying, "MmMm FISH"

Question: What are some foods that you previously
disliked but now can't seem to get enough of?

Any other ex-fish or ex-cilantro haters out there?

  8. Poor muffin. But inner beauty is what matters right? :)

I used to hate mustard, milk, cauliflower, brocoli and everything green, sweets (how strange!), garlic, cream soups...there is a long list. I used to love meat. Now Ive been a vegetarian for about 6-7 years, I love chocolate and all the other things I mentioned I used to hate! Im wondering if there are some more massive changes coming to my kitchen.

I hope you will post some more pictures of your room after everything is done! <3

  9. You need to stop featuring delicious (even the defected ones) muffins on here because it's making me crazy with cravings! I haven't found any gluten-free, dairy-free ones over here that aren't full of preservatives and have been sitting on a shelf for months! There better be some when we're in the States :)

Oh, and I love the colour of your room. My bedroom used to be that colour- love it. xxx

  10. Hehe, love your mutated muffin!

I used to dislike avocados and guacamole, but now I eat them at least once a day! Mmmm green goodness!

Your salmon wrap looks heavenly. I ate tuna salad for lunch today and it was tasty, but would have been better if it was wrapped in a yummy tortilla like yours!

Hmmmmm, used to hate honey and peanut butter, now I love them both!

Always loved mushrooms, but just started eating them raw - now I can't get enough. So good!!!!

  15. Poor muffin - I hope he doesn't get teased.

I used to hate avocados.... and ketchup! That is crazy because I douse EVERYTHING in ketchup!

  16. As a kid i didn't think I liked mushrooms and now I enjoy all types of them!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Cantaloup...I thought it was disgusting as a kid, now I eat one in two days and that is only because I pace myself!

Your muffins are killing me! Now I have to make more because my last batch is already gone...in 24 hours we ate 13 muffins!

  18. haha...that muffin! it looks like a scone on a muffin body almost :P definitely very alien-esque.
That potato salad and fish wrap looks great, too! I used to hate all things fishy, as well -- but now I don't mind salmond, shrimp, or scallops (though haven't had any in ages.) I also used to hate pretty much all veggies. We know that's changed! haha.

  19. Ha ha- looks like the muffin got a little overexcited and tried to escape the muffin pan...

I used to hate avocado. It grossed me out. And asparagus. Now I can't get enough... :)

  20. I love when muffins come out strange like that - as long as the muffin top is sizeable, it doesn't matter (cause that's the best part). Your muffin looks like a whale to me.

Even as an adult, I wasn't fond of Swiss chard, but I recently made up a recipe that worked really well - sauteed with garlic, chickpeas, and raisins - so more chard is on my grocery list this week.

  21. LOL - that poor muffin. Let's see, I used to think I hated beets (had never really even tried them) and I realize I like them. I hated bananas growing up and now I crave them. Oh, and kale, was afraid of it until I finally made soup with it after our neighbors gave us some they didn't want (they don't like it, I'll gladly take it now). Hope you're having a great week sweetie!

  22. ahh, that salmon wrap looks so frickin´good, I wanna lick my screen! I guess I might have a lack of omega 3s?? I used to hate avocado, but for a about three weeks I was craving them, until I finally gave in last weekend. I´m still not too sure about them, but a spoonful can´t hurt ;)

    xoxo Mel

  23. LOL that muffin!? mmm i love salmon, in fact i have some packed for my lunch today as well!

  24. I never thought I would like tofu, kale, black beans, or fish - many staples in my diet now! Weird to think about.

  25. Best muffin pic ever!!!
I did not like Greek Yogurt for a long time, and now LOVE it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think the muffin is adorable, it has elephantitas or something :) Made with love, just like other commenters have said!

I didn't like beets for a long time, until my sister made them for me -- it is all about the preparation!

    ReplyDelete
  27. haha I *think* they over-filled the muffin tin just a little :)

ugh me and cilantro have neverrrr gotten along lol. But I used to hate avocado and now I love it! I try and re-taste things every few years or so because your taste buds change...but yeah celery has been a no-go my entire life!

    ReplyDelete
  28. As long as the muffin tasted good then it makes up for its silly shape ;) I used to hate fish and I have really grown to love it. I also have come to enjoy brussel sprouts and asparagus, two foods that I would run from in the past!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I like "defects" - makes it interesting...and usually more to eat ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. i love seafood! i've always liked it though. i used to dislike banana pepper and jalapenos but now i love them!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Take a closer look at the third pic down...

There are two strategically placed chocolate chips above a smear of red.......do you see it? It's your muffin's face!

That's a face ANYBODY can love.

I love seafood now, but wouldn't touch it when I was little and much less in my decade + stretch as a vegetarian. Now it makes my heart sing.

    How's your room coming along?

  32. I was thinking about how I used to hate honey. This summer I've been putting more and more of it on my toast every day. I also used to hate mustard. 3 or 4 summers ago I did the same thing: I decreased my mayonnaise and upped my mustard on my sandwiches. Mayonnaise gone, lots of mustard!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't know why but if there's a weirdly shaped food, I love it. I always search for the funny shaped chips and this muffin would definitely have been my choice!!!

I used to hate mushrooms when I was little but now I love them!!

  38. Ok I didn't promise I wouldn't laugh ;p lol seriously so funny! I love how you described it too!!! That leftover potatoes look like a yummy potato salad! I haven't had one all summer--I just realized this! Shame on me hehehe

  40. I grew up hating fish...I was served some amazing platters of seafood that I repeatedly turned down. Sometime in my late teens, I changed my mind, and now I love fish and will likely be eating it tonight!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I used to haaaate bananas and seafood and now I love both! I eat a banana most every day and seafood is my top pick when dining out :).

    ReplyDelete
  42. I want those potatoes! They look so good!

I don't know if this counts, but I used to hate wine and now I can't get enough of it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I've seen (and sadly, baked) worse. I once got a scone that resembled algae cause it was a "green tea" scone. Never get baked green pastries! As a kid a never cared for yogurt, now I go through a few cartons a day!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I used to hate fish and now I like some of it - not a fan of salmon though. I like cilantro in small doses.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm surprised your blog title doesn't have something to do with muffins, considering how much you love them! That is a cute, albeit deformed, muffin! :D

Hmm I hated seafood until my mid-teens, and now I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I actually hated peanut butter and chocolate together. Now I never eat peanut butter without rolling it in some unsweetened chocolate!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I used to HATE all the foods I eat almost everyday now: yogurt, salad, oatmeal, cottage cheese...I didn't like any of it! But now I love the stuff!

Oh and, Poor mutilated muffin! haha, still tasty though, i bet!

    ReplyDelete
  48. dude, the deformed muffins are always the best kind!

lol....sorry, i still can't handle cilantro. i used to dislike tomatoes and carrots when i was a kid, but now i love 'em . especially carrots on my Subway sandwich. the combination with sweet chili sauce (yes, they have that here) is SOOO good.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That wrap actually looks REALLY tasty! The muffin definitely looks funky, but still delicious. Poor little guy.

There are a ton of foods I didn't like when I was younger, but like now (in fact I have a post coming up where I asked my readers the same question), such as crunchy peanut butter, artichokes, and yogurt!

    ReplyDelete
  50. The only vegetable I ate as a child was cucumber. Turns out my mom cooked the death out of most fresh vegetables, which is why I hated them.

The first time I tasted fresh cooked asparagus I was amazed! So now baby spinach, asparagus, spaghetti squash are staples!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Awww poor muffin! Still looks tasty though :) And that salmon wrap looks DELISH! Mmm. I used to HATE the texture of oatmeal, but now I can't get enough!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love the hippo muffin! Haha and salmon is so delish... still can't stomach cilantro though!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I bet that muffin tasted mighty good, even if it looked a bit funny. :)

  54. Previously hated (but now loved foods):

    - Fish
    - Olives
    - Shrimp

    I have always loved cilantro!

    ReplyDelete
  55. That muffin really did have a birth defect. I think it should have that checked out.

I am an ex-fish hater! Now I can't get enough of it!

    ReplyDelete
  56. aw poor muffin! I've always loved fish, but I had a strong hatred for sour cream..but now I can't get enough of it :)

    xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  57. I hate perfect muffins. I like them deformed, bc usually that means more odd-shaped muffin tops for me, and we all know that is the best part. I used to hate broccoli. Now it's my fave!

    ReplyDelete
  58. That muffin does look funny, but I'd still eat it :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Aww! A muffin that only it's 'mother' could love. :)

I know that I used to HATE tomatoes and guacamole when I was a kid and now I can't get enough of them! I don't think i ever really had a problem with fish and my parents never made anything with cilantro, but both are now refrigerator staples for me! As well as tomatoes and avocadoes :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. I definitely laughed out loud before you told us not to when I saw that muffin :)

I used to hate fish and now I love it!! I also used to hate cilantro. I don't LOVE it now, but I definitely eat it. I love that I've grown up!

And I used to hate cucumbers when I was a kid (okay, I hated them until 4 months ago) but this summer I can't eat enough!! Aah to be an adult... :)
