Feeling Like an Eckhart Tolle Kind of Day

Power of Positive Thinking?

I can attest it works. The more I focus on my pain, the greater strength
it has on me. Whatever it is, ask yourself to let it go. What purpose is
it serving you by holding on to the pain? How's that working for you?

There is absolutely no reason to have a pity party no
matter what is going on... it's your life to enjoy, and whatever
doesn't feel right for you shouldn't exist for you either!

I woke up with the intention on enjoying everything I have right now, and
didn't force myself to wallow in the things I didn't like or didn't want to accept

Soft and sweet Date and Walnut Muffin from Green Cuisine

So today I'm feeling good

Because I want to feel good!

Soaking up Summer with lot's of tanning and tending to my Fig Tree

I finally listened to everyone who told me to grill my wraps...

Eggs, Spinach, and Red Onion in a Brown Rice Tortilla

Why didn't I do this sooner!!!

Oy Vey! I finally bought some cherries!

I've commented too many times on all your
blogs about how much I love big bowls of these :)

Advil 400. At least if I can't take the pain
killers, I can have some Advil when I need it

Moral of the Day?
Your thoughts shape your reality.
Thoughts lead to feelings which lead to behaviors...

I Challenge You: This weekend, if a negative situation
occurs, just accept your feelings that arise; then flip it!

For instance, if you can't find a parking spot close by and have to
park a few blocks down, look at it as an opportunity to get a nice walk
in and enjoy the sunshine. It may sound pointless now, but why sit
behind the wheel honking and yelling "Why Me?" ... well, Why not you?

What a perfect post. Positive thinking really does "work"! I love it! And soo glad you are grilling your wraps.. isn't it great?!

I love your positive thinking. And you're right about pain - any time I have pains (and I think I'm fairly sensitive), I tend to dwell on them. However, if I keep myself busy, I don't notice them, and feel much better about life.

Wonderful post! I definitely need to be more positive and just let go of things that I shouldn't hold on to.

I freaking love your massive Lion King shirt. How could you possibly NOT smile when wearing that??! :)

Anonymous said... [reply]

i totally agree! it is all about how you look at life and how you decide to react to it.

am in love with your fig tree and lion king t-shirt. i can probably still sing the lion king sound track word for word.

great post:)

love the simba shirt:D

I used to have issues (probably still do) of wanting to be sick and have pity parties because that was the only time I really got a any attention.

I had a big revelation of that recently and have been working hard toward it!!

I felt sick today and felt lousy and then decided to go get a powerade slush from sonic :) I feel tons better :D

great message, Kelsey - thank you for the positive reminder :) I'm glad you're looking up and your day has gone better for you. And I am so envious of your fig tree. I've been dying to try a fresh fig, but I've never seen them around.

ahhhh loved this post. Every word of it I need to apply to my life rigt now. Glad you seem to be feeling better! And I want that muffin!!

I just love so much about this post. "it's your life to enjoy. and whatever doesn't feel right for you shouldn't exist for you either". Wow, I love that. Your mood/feelings aren't dependent upon what happens to you, it's how you interpret and react to what happens to you - I need to remind myself of that very often! Plus the Simba shirt (my fave Disney movie!), grilled wraps, cherries...so much great stuff. Glad you're feeling so positive today :)

Aw what a great post. I really agree with you. It can be hard to be optimistic but it def isn't any good to think negatively. I think everyone can benefit from this. And I love your pictures. And you have a fig tree? That's so cool?

This was a fantastic post, My favorite part was:
'Your thoughts shape your reality.
Thoughts lead to feelings which lead to behaviors...'
This is just what I needed to hear right now.

"The more I focus on my pain, the greater strength it has on me. " = this will serve you well in childbirth. Dont focus on it, focus on that which is beautiful :)

"Your thoughts shape your reality.
Thoughts lead to feelings which lead to behaviors..." = the tenets of cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT) from a psychological perspective. In grad school when we had to stand behind a genre of though, i was and am a CBT girl :)

I'm not sure what I love more. Your positively wonderful post or your lion king tee? It's a toss up... For real. :)

Happy weekend!

Very inspiring post love...
I read an Eckhart Tolle book two years ago and I remember thinking "That's nice and all but I just can't do it...I can't control my thoughts". And I've also read countless books on CBT and cognition in general (hello, psychology nerd?) and the same thing kept creeping into my mind...I always think that it will work for other people, but for me, no. I can't control my thoughts. Since the day I was born, I have had an incredibly low opinion of myself and that will never change. BUT I'm starting realize that there has to be a way to control my negative thinking. There is no way that everyone in the world is different from me, that I am the one exception to the rule, the one person who has illogical thought patterns that simply can't be tamed. And there is no way I can be as horrible of a person as I think I am, right?
Sorry for this long ramble, but this post really hit home for me because shifting my thoughts is something that I am working so very hard on right now. It isn't easy after a lifetime of self-loathing, but I'm trying.
By the way, is that a huge Lion King T-shirt I see? Lion King is my very favourite Disney movie. I'm in love with that shirt.

Loved your message today, Kelsey. I'm a strong believer in positive thinking but I can't say I act it out all the time. It's just too easy to complain and wallow is self-pity!

Anonymous said... [reply]

Great post Kelsey!!! You know I'm also a big believer of the power of positive thinking :)

Anonymous said... [reply]

I love grilling my wraps. I usually just leave the pan on after I finish cooking my eggs and throw the wrap back into the pan with the place where the tortilla meets down first so it can seal.

Anonymous said... [reply]

I really believe in the power of positive thinking. I try to do that lately, more often than before. I keep telling myself, I can do this, I'm good, I'm smart, its all gonna work out well. And that helps a lot.
Grilled wraps are the best!

Wonderful post Kelsey! I just picked up The Power of Now after finishing A New Earth. Choosing to think positively has been such a revelation to me over the past few months.

Can I just tell you that I woke up with a really poor attitude this morning, but after reading your post I've realized that if I want it to be a great day, all I need to do is make it happen!!! I am changing my thought process right now!

Don't you love it when you read an inspiring blog post at the EXACT right moment? It feels so much like fate!

Thanks, girl! Have a great day! :)

Wonderful post, Squirrely! Love you more than I like Mr. Tolle, and love your positive attitude. And it's funny that you mention the parking spot thing, because telling myself that I'll be able to get a nice walk in is often how I flip that situation around. Still, I hope your teeth are actually feeling better, and that you're not just forcing yourself to see past the pain. You're a little snacking soldier <3

Cassie said... [reply]

So glad your feeling better!!!!! LOVE the simba shirt - so cute!

Joanne said... [reply]

Love your attitude chica! I definitely find that if I just put things that are bothering me out of my mind, they inevitably go away. It never helps to dwell.

I SO envy your fig tree!

Hey Kelsey!

You have the coolest threads. But you obviously should, since you're the coolest muffin-eating, wrap-grilling, rodent around. :-)

OFF TO GO FLIP NEGATIVE SITUATIONS RIGHT SIDE-UP. Thanks for the inspiration, love.
