Sugar Donuts and Peanut Butter Binges

Sometimes I get so hungry I can't think straight. That's exactly what happened
to me this evening! Peanut Butter and Raspberry Jam with Honey smothered on
Gluten Free Bread with 1.5 Gluten Free Cinnamon Sugar Donuts on the side!

It was a Homer Simpson sugar affair

Question: Do you ever treat yourself to a bunch
of sugar and desserts in excess like I did?

Frozen Banana Ice Cream Cereal with PB&J

Sometimes I think of weird food combinations and decide to try them out

I had a frozen banana in the freezer and saw a box
of cereal and thought, "You just need some ice cream"

So together in a bowl I combined Frozen Banana,
Gluten Free Rice Krispies, Soy Ice Cream and Cinnamon

Then I thought, "You need milk!"

So I added some Unsweetened Almond Milk

Poured over top

Nom nom nom

But I wasn't done yet! I realized it needed the color of some Jam and Peanut Butter

And this is the result of it all :) Scrumptious

Colorful Oats and Potatoes

I've got a very colorful food post for you today

Starting with my breakfast oatmeal

Gluten free instant oatmeal with 1/2 banana,
1/3 cup blueberries and lots of cinnamon

Bright, vibrant, and scrumptious!

Lunch was another colorful meal

I decided to use the leftover roasted sweet potatoes from last night

A mix of purple and white sweet potatoes with yams

Paired with 2/3 roasted chicken breast and stirfried vegetables

Balanced meals = happy squirrel

Breakfast "Date"

Three years ago, I posted these amazing organic date squares that
were to die for, recently summoning me back into their salivating charm...

Seriously, why not make a killer breakfast out of them!

I crumbled the date square ontop 1/2 cup of creamy greek yogurt, along with 1/2 sliced
small banana, 1/4 cup Whole O's Nature's Path Cereal, and some cinnamon to garnish

I had energy for hours and the protein in the yogurt prevented any sugar
crashes. You all know how much I love dessert for breakfast...remember?

Oh but wait, there is a twist! I mixed in two secret weapons, 1/4 packet of
North Coast Naturals Daily Cleanse and 1 shot container of Bio-K Original

Question: Do you put any extras like fibers, superfoods
or flavourings to your foods that we should know about?

Burgers, Buns and October Sun

I'm trying to figure out if I love eating parfaits mainly because
they're quick and delicious or because I am obsessed with my moms
collection of unique and gorgeously crafted drinking glasses! Hmm

Single serving Liberte Greek Yogurt: 0% Blackberry

Blackberry yogurt with fresh blueberries? Why not!

Now lets get to the details of what exactly I put into this parfait...

I was delighted to try out this box of Wheat Free Granola
from Glutenfreeda that I brought back home from Calgary

Each box contains individual packets of their granola, with a
suggested serving being half of that packet: 120 calories, 4
grams of fat, 2 grams fiber, 5 grams sugar and 3 grams of protein

This one is their Raisin Almond Honey Granola flavour

I combined the yogurt and 1/2 packet of granola,
along with fresh organic blueberries and cinnamon

Such a delicious little mess!

...and you've got to love bright sunny fall mornings
to add to the overall mood (some coffee helps too)

Breakfast wasn't the only highlight of this beautiful fall day though...

BBQ burgers with Sweet Potato Fries was!

Organic lean ground beef patties topped with sliced onion, tomato, pickles, steamed
kale, ketchup and mustard, all tucked into a gluten free hamburger bun

The sides included more steamed kale sprinkled with cayenne
pepper, steamed green peas, and Alexia Julienne Sweet Potato Fries

If you haven't tried these fries I would highly suggest you do. I eat them
at least 2-3 times a week for dinner and/or lunch...well, because I'm addicted!

Happy 1st of October!

Fuel and Refuel

For the love of yogurt!

I absolutely adore Greek yogurt...but under one condition, it has to be Liberté

There are so many different companies who make Greek yogurt, but
I have yet to find one as creamy, non-bitter, and wholesome as Liberté

This morning I mixed the last 1/4 of the yogurt container with a sliced banana,
2 tsp chia seeds, 1/4 cup gluten free oats, cinnamon, and a squirt of liquid stevia

100 calories per 3/4 cup, and 18 grams of protein!

Delicious mess

I am proud to be camera-happy :)

With all this energy, what will I do with it...?

Go for a fabulous run!!

Then refuel...

Egg and ham sandwiches are the best :)

2 slices of gluten free bread...

2 poached eggs, steamed swiss chard, tomato,
red onion, yellow mustard, and black pepper

Exactly what I needed after my run

And to close out this post...

I bathed Camille! She loved the water which surprised me as I half
expected her to claw my eyes out at the mere idea of jumping in the water!!!

Questions: What is your favourite
foods to eat before you run/exercise?

Do you know a cat that doesn't mind water/bathing?
