Green Cuisine

Green Cuisine, the place i'm always talking about. Ever since
I worked here a couple years ago, i've become obsessed
with their homemade vegan food and baked goods.

Each morning they make 3 different muffin choices;
2 kinds of GF Brown Rice Muffins and 1 Spelt Muffin

Today I had the Spelt Raspberry Goji Chocolate Chip

Moist, hearty, healthy, homemade, lightly sweetened, savory, and ahhhmazing!

Questions: Have you ever worked in a restaurant?
Do you remember your last part-time job?

Your muffins always look so delicious.

It is a blessing to have a job which you love, I work part time in a Loccitane beauty boutique, it is a natural french cosmetic brand, I loved their products before I started to work there, now I love them even more. But the problem is that this way I spend more money in my work than I earn! Before that I used to work in Zara, it wasn't bad but this is much closer to my heart and I just love the products and the interior of the store.

I've never worked in a restaurant or a caffee, because I am scared of being awkward and pouring everything on people.

I've worked in a bunch of restaurants - serving food, and cooking food. If you find the right place, it's a great job to learn a lot and meet great people. (And make good money if you're waiting tables.) I actually spent this summer waiting tables two nights a week - my most recent part-time job. :)

My last part time job WAS at a restaurant!! I was a server at a steakhouse! Fun work, really good (but bad for you) food!

Anonymous said... [reply]

I have NEVER worked in a restaurant. I don't think I'd be cut out for it. Its seems way too fast paced for me, I would probably stress out waaaay too much! I like focusing on one thing at a time. Except when I'm cooking, then I love having 5 things going at once :)

I'm also considering taking a trip to Victoria for the sole purpose of having a Green Cuisine muffin!!! Also the chance of seeing you!!

Have a great day beautiful :)

I worked at a restaurant for several months after graduating from college and I absolutely LOVED it.

Haha if you count McDonalds as a restaurant then yes, but I didn't last very long there...it is THE worst place to work in the world, and I'd never ever do it again!

LOL...I worked at Outback Steakhouse....I was a vegetarian then too, OMG!! I was in college, starting my personal training business, needed flexible hours, cash money...disgusting food there...HATED that job! I WISH we had a 100% Vegan Restaurant around here! I am telling you, Kelsey, I am vacationing to Victoria just for Green Cuisine, maybe we'll bump into each other bearing muffins ;-)

I worked in a Sub shop when I was 14 until age 16, then I moved to a retail job :)

My last part time job was working for Jenny Craig -- I was a counselor for the clients trying to lose weight. I would weight them, measure them, talk to them about exercise, meal planning, etc. It was fun sometimes but awful at the same time.

i want to eat at green cuisine!! i was a waitress at a truck stop when i was 18. bad idea!! my last part time job was in the computer dept at best buy. however, since college i've been working in my career field: biology so that's nice and i enjoy it very much!

Sarah said... [reply]

Ooooh! I want to eat there! All your food looks SO GOOD!

Anonymous said... [reply]

I helped out a friend at the restaurant she worked at for 2 nights. I am NOT cut out for it!! :)

Amy B @ Second City Randomness said... [reply]

I never did the restaurant circuit. I was more of a retail gal. I think the idea of waiting tables gave me anxiety. Although my friends always had way more cash than I did... lol

lequan@luvtoeat said... [reply]

Omg, I waitressed in a restaurant for about 3 years and that was the worst job I ever had. Hated it. Now I'm always super nice to waiters and waitresses, unless they're super snobby.

Sarena Shasteen - The Non-Dairy Queen said... [reply]

Gosh yes, restaurant, bakery, catering...you name it food wise and I worked there. What I can't get over with their muffins is the top on it. I want the top so badly! I am making blueberry muffins (I think tomorrow)...again, because of you!

Aimee said... [reply]

Omg I checked out the menu for Green Cuisine it looks amazing!
I think I've made a note to self to try baking your muffins, because I have no idea where I could find those babies. :]
I used to work at Benihana? It was fun because the server's were young and cool. I ate a whole lot of sushi during my stint there.

Emily said... [reply]

Green Cuisine looks like an awesome restaurant w/ amazing baked goodies!

I worked at a restaurant 3 years ago as a waitress, and it was really stressful! I don't think I'd ever like a waitress job again. I was also a barista, which was more fun. :-)

Giant Muffin Top!!! hahaha looks very moist and yum!

I have never worked in a restaurant before...but I always hoping to open my own!

My last part time job was Express! Do you have those up north? It's this fantastical clothing store. About 95% of my wardrobe is still from that store... :)

And for the record every time you post about Green Cuisine I think of that one super deformed muffin you had that one time...makes me laugh.

Kristy Sayer-Jones @ Southern In Law said... [reply]

Kelsey I think I need to come live with you in Canada :P That muffin looks super moist and delicious!

I've never worked in a restaurant and i've never actually had a part time job! I jumped straight into working for myself

I worked at Panera Bakery during the first 6 months of my college years...and believe me, the muffins weren't nearly as tasty as yours look! I had a great experience though and was able to take home a lot of leftover bagels!

I LOVE your muffins. The green cusine needs to open a store in TX.

My last part-time job was working in an arena hot dogs, french fires and candy! Not exactly vegetarian, vegan or healthy... yikes!

I do really enjoy the food service industry though :) It was awesome to greet everyone with a smile and grab them whatever they asked for. Plus, I love making/prepping food so it was enjoyable :)

I worked as a hostess at a roadhouse-type restaurant last summer and I didn't really like it. I'm sure if I had a chance to work at a place like Green Cuisine though I would love it! I would much rather work in a quaint little place like that!

Anonymous said... [reply]

I still can't get over the size of those muffins!!

Yep - started in the restaurant biz at age 16 as a bus girl, became a server when I was 18, and worked until about 28 - always as a second job.

When my husband got laid off in 2005, I went back working at a private supper club - awesome money - I was making about $200 a night and I worked 5 nights a week.

Totally saved us for the 10 months he was out of work, but working a day job on top of that was a bit tiring!

Angela said... [reply]

I wish that I had a restaurant like that around here. Those muffins look incredible!
I worked at a place called Tippins, which served all kinds of pies. It was before my ED so I tried them all!

erica said... [reply]

Seriously I want your muffins so bad! They always look absolutely AMAZING!!!

I've never worked in a restaurant but when I move to the city for university next year I think I'm going to try and get a job as a waitress. There's been times when I've had the opportunity to (3 times!) but I always get nervous and back out.

Miss Kelsey? When I finally make my way down to Victoria we absolutely must do a meet up and go to Green Cuisine!

Anonymous said... [reply]

That muffin looks amazing! This would be a great part-time job. My last one was at a gym for pre-schoolers, teaching gymnastics classes and working birthday parties.

Jolene - EverydayFoodie said... [reply]

I love the look of that restaurant. It has great curb appeal!

I worked at Dairy Queen, and I liked it! It was fun. The hubby worked there too (we worked there through high school and university) and we reminisce about it often :-)

Healthy. Happy. Well. said... [reply]

oh lordy, that muffin looks amazing, goji berry??awesome! There is restaurant called the Greenery that reminds me a lot of the restaurant in your pic. Kind of pricey but raw and delicious! I worked in a bar, but never with straight food in a restaurant. I liked it.

Lola said... [reply]

Finally! we get to meet the place from where those lovelymuffins and scrumptious take out boxes come from!!! hehe
I'm working in a restaurant right now actually. I used to be the hostess and I hated it, it was too boring! now I'm the bartender and love every single minute ;)
What was your position on green cuisine?

Angela (the diet book junkie) said... [reply]

seriously, why are all the best restaurants in your neighbourhood? lol....not fair! :)

and yeah, i worked in restaurants for 10 years before i realized i HATED it! the worst was having customers complain about the stupidest things. i still remember one guy who found a lemon seed in his pasta and wanted a free meal out of it. i mean, are you serious??? apparently, he hurt himself biting into it. RIGHT......anyways.... :P

Jess @ MTL Veggie said... [reply]

I never worked in a restaurant, but I always wanted to. Instead I got a part-time job at a deli when I was in high school. Now I'm a vegetarian, coincidence? I think not :)

oh what a cute place! Some of my favorite jobs have been in the food industry!

Anonymous said... [reply]

what a cute place! i can understand why you like it so much. i have never worked in an actual resturaunt before. i really love my job at the foodie store right now tho :) it is so fun to be around quality chow all day long.

wendy @ ABCs and Garden Peas said... [reply]

I worked in a DQ and a Dunkin Donuts. Ack. I shudder to think about it now.

I also worked in a hotel as front desk clerk, and there was a restaurant inside. It was a great, high end place, and I made friends with the chefs so they would let me try out experimental dishes all the time! A huge perk!

Then, I spent A LOT of years working in bakeries as a cake decorator. My life has really revolved around other people's sugar addictions!

Kat said... [reply]

Thx for the blog comment :) I have never worked in a restaurant, but my hubby has when he was younger. I think working in a bakery would be very dangerous for me haha I love baked goods!! There's nothing better than a warm muffin and a bowl of fruit in the morning!!

Danielle (Runs on Green) said... [reply]

That restaurant sounds right up my ally :)

I used to work at Ruby Tuesday & it wasn't my favorite job lol. And wayyy back in the day I worked at a snowball stand (I made snowcones) and it sounds a little ridic now but I was making serious bank! lol

Tori said... [reply]

Why did you stop working there? It looks like a wonderful muffin......er, place :)

I'm working at the first job I've ever had now. It's not that great, but in this economy, I can't be too picky. It's part time, and it pays so I"m happy!

One of my favorite jobs was when I was working at a coffee shop. I had to get up early every day to bake cookies and muffins before we opened our doors

Kristen (swanky dietitian) said... [reply]

I love that there are so many vegan and vegetarian restaurants popping up. It also goes to show that vegan can taste delicious!
Those muffins look amazing! Wish I had one right now.

Beth @ DiningAndDishing said... [reply]

I worked at a Friendlys once and it was a nightmare!!! I think I lasted about a month. Otherwise I stuck to coffee shops for a part time job while I was in school. Much nicer environment!

Kacy said... [reply]

That looks great! I love big, vegan muffins!

I worked at a Don Pablos for a summer. Met a lot of cool people and had tons of fun. Then I worked at a Jamba Juice and eventually managed it for a year during college.

I currently have a part-time job at a running store so I get free running gear. Woo hoo!

alex said... [reply]

I worked in a mexican restaurant during my summers and winters when I was home from college. Just thinking about it right now stresses me out. It was extremely EXTREMELY fast paced and i don't ever want to do it again lol!

Alycia [Fit n Fresh] said... [reply]

Those muffins are ENORMOUS! Just how I like my muffins to be :)

I served in two italian restaurants - I hated it. People mistakenly think you are their slave. Noooo thanks.

T. Leah said... [reply]

Such a cute little restaurant! Looks like a cool place to work too!

I have never worked in a restaurant because I don't think I am suited for the demands of he public! I like being behind my desk drowning in paper work!!

Oh wait - I worked at Tim Hortons on weekends when I was in high school! I HATED the uniforms and liked the free coffee!

Anonymous said... [reply]

Mmm muffins are awesome :)

I still only have a part time job! Teaching little kids how to swim...which is very tiring, surprisingly.

Lisa (bakebikeblog) said... [reply]

oh my - that muffin looks perfect :)

Tina said... [reply]

That place looks and sounds fantastic!

I've never had a restaurant job. I've only worked with kids as a teacher or in a daycare or as a nanny. The only job I've had besides that was Hobby Lobby. Ick.

Eden said... [reply]

I went to culinary school, that says it all! I hated doing restaurants! so now I'm a private chef and I tech kids cooking at schools.

Candice @ ChiaSeedMe said... [reply]

I've never worked in a restaurant before, although I did work as a barista for awhile in college - so maybe that counts?

Can you please mail me one of those muffins? thanks;)

Ellen@Firednfabulous said... [reply]

I never get sick of your monster muffin pics! And yes, I have worked in a restaurant...several times. I think everyone should at least once. It's...character-building. And yep, I have a PT job right now. I need some consistent cash flow rolling in to supplement the phases that my freelance work is slow.

Kristie said... [reply]

OMG that muffin. Epic. Pure muffin perfection.
I've never worked in a restaurant but I've worked in a burger stall at our local farmer's market in the past, and I worked in the deli in a gourmet grocery store one summer as well. So working with food but not exactly restaurants. My last (and current) part time job is bookkeeping :)

Joanne said... [reply]

If you worked in this place and STILL want to go back there, it truly is a testament to how awesome it is!

My first part time job outside of my dad's window business, was a child caretaker for 16 crazy 1-4 year olds at a daycare. That's hard work.
