Kane's Harley Diner

This weekend was full of fun with friends and good food; One
of the highlights was going for lunch at Kane's Harley Diner

Kane's is a unique restaurant/diner in Calgary,
themed to suit the Harley Davidson lover in all of us

Reece ordered the Veggie Burger with Onion Rings

I ordered the same Veggie Burger with a
Garden Salad and Raspberry Dressing on the side

Kris ordered one of their classic burgers with fries.
Yes, he likes to put fries on top of his burger...yum!

Kris' girlfriend, Dee, got their Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Fries

My Veggie Burger that is made with tempeh!

Quite energizing and filling, yet light enough to
leave you with room for afternoon ice cream :)

Tempeh Taco Bowl Salad

I'm not sure if it's the weather or just me, but i've been
feeling very melancholy lately and could use some cheering up...

So I made a Tempeh Taco Bowl Salad to perk me up a bit

Tempeh, avocado, refried pinto beans, tomatoes, salsa, lettuce,
lemon juice and black pepper, tucked into a baked tortilla

Question: What type of foods or meals do you
choose when you're feeling sad and need a boost?

Warming Winter Foods

I've been on an oatmeal kick lately - I can't get enough of it!

Cinnamon oatmeal cooked with egg whites, topped
with sliced strawberries and unsweetened carob chips

And because of the recent cold weather, my
oven has been busy roasting many vegetables...

Organic Tempeh from Green Cuisine

Tempeh, corn, peas, carrot, lotus root, daikon, broccoli, swiss chard, brussel sprouts, balsamic vinegar, mustard, onion, garlic, dill, sage, thyme, paprika and black pepper

And I find it so much easier to prepare roasted vegetables than stir-fries...

Question: Are there any meals/foods you prepare
differently in colder months, than in warmer months?

Bean Burritos and Take-Out

Breakfast Oatmeal with Bananas and Unsweetened Carob Chips

Always makes the tummy smile :)

Yesterday I popped into Green Cuisine for some take-out vegan lunch...

Tempeh sushi with black sesame seeds, Jamaican stew with curried
coconut milk, falafel burger, arame seaweed, chili powder and cayenne

When I got home, I had a massive craving for a bean burrito. When
was younger my mom would buy me a bean burrito from Taco Time at the
food court when we went shopping at the mall. They were sooooo addictive!

But i'm no food court, so I had to re-create my own version of a bean burrito...

First, I spread cream cheese liberally on a brown rice tortilla while I cooked
up some refried beans with red onions, black pepper and chili powder...

Then a few spinach leaves were added with the bean
mix, before grilling everything on the George Foreman

Pretty darn delicious if I may say so :)

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! To those living in
Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario, Happy Family Day :)
