Blogging Breakdown

Today I had to make a very important decision about blogging. Recently, since blogging, I have not
been setting aside enough time dedicated to studies. I need to keep my grades up and am fully responsible for
how I spend my time. Unfortunately my love for commenting is causing me to lose track of what is most
important right now. I will continue to sporadically blog and comment when I have time, but while remaining dedicated to my studies. I hope you can all understand, as I know many of you are busy yourself as student, employers, employees, mothers, etc. I appreciate each and every one of you and LOVE reading your posts... I just won't be able to comment as much as I would like. Thank you for understanding.

Now that I've got that off my chest, I would like to say how much fun yesterday was! Okay so to be a bit of
a downer, we ended up running halfway across town to make it to the drumming class but arrived late! We
were too busy laughing and giggling over dessert that time flew by. We're gonna go to the next drum class
when it's held, so I promise to take pictures of it and fill you in.

My friend LOVED the Fruit Basket

We both shared some lovely Raw Desserts at Cafe Bliss
Raw Restaurant. My friend knows the cashier personally, so
he gave us a free cake slice to share, which was incredibly generous!

Key Lime Pie with a cute Rosebud on top. Both of us melted in our seats when
we took a bite! It was so creamy, so soft, and the perfect hints of Lime! We had to laugh
at the fact that we fought over who got the last bite. Obviously birthday girl wins!

I ordered us some other treats; 'Superfood Bliss Balls' with
Spirulina and Bee Pollen, as well as squares called 'Bliss Bars'

The Nanaimo-bar-looking Bliss Bars were so good we ended up
skipping on the streets wondering why life is so amazing... WEIRDOS!

Me and Jess. Love this girl to pieces :)

Questions: Do you have troubles balancing
life and blogging? How do you manage them both?
Do you feel one is more important than the other?

Sounds like a great night you had last night! I am so jealous of the present you brought your friend and those delicious looking raw treats, serious yum.

No worries about less blogging and commenting. After I finished college last year, I took a year off blogging! I love being back but it definitely can be stressful and get in the way of real life sometimes. Remember girlie, real life is definitely more important! Blogging is a wonderful outlet and way to meet "blends" who share interests (don't you wish many of us could be friends in real life too?) but our day to day outside life is more important in the long run.

I actually wrote about my feelings about blogging late last night!

have a great friday lady love!

awww i will miss your posts, but thank goodness you'll still be writing sporadically! yayyyyyy! i put my blog after friends and fun stuff, at times, but then other times i'm so obsessed with writing a post that i won't pick up my phone or answer texts bc i'm so into it. haha. xoxo!

Wow, what a challenging degree!! I hope that you find with less blogging it helps balance things out a bit more.

My job right now is really laid back so I don't have issues with blogging once or twice a day (and reading and commenting on others), but I can see in your case how it can get hectic!

Those desserts are making my mouth water..haha!

Blogging does take a lot of time and that's why I'm not able to do it all the time. I love reading your blog often but I understand that your studies come first. I'm in the same position and am unable to comment on all the blogs that I would like. Either way, I'm happy you're making the right decision for yourself and I look forward to more posts, as sporadically as you need.

Have a lovely day!

Yep, I get stressed about reading everyone's posts, commenting, and writing my own posts. Think it's natural. And I think it totally makes sense if you need to cut back. Set your priorities! And best of luck with your studies...You're on my Reader so next time you post, I'll know. Take care!

Thank you so much for all you sweet comments. Every time I see your comment you make my day!

It isn't that easy to combinate life and blogging. But the school I'm going to, blogging is a big deal. So my mum finnaly accepted that I bloged so much :P. But I understand you. Maybe you can plan 2 or 3 days in a week you blog? and take about one maybe one and a half hours to blog?

Hope i helped you!!

Totally understand. I had to cut my blogging from every day to several days a week. It helped me find a better balance and I think my posts are more interesting, too. Good luck!

Every once in a while I do get a little overwhelmed with blogging and let it get in the way of more important things - like time with my husband or just down time in general for myself. I try really hard to make Friday - Sunday posts easier on myself by not always posting dinner on the night of. I also try to do a little prewriting if I can so then I just have to make a few edits and add pics. You do what you have to do though. I enjoy reading your blog, but it's about you, not me!!

Do what you need to do! I used to blog more often myself, but I only do it now when I can. Obviously things happen in life where you have to focus your energy towards other things... it's nothing to feel guilty about! :)

It's funny because if I get busy over the weekend or something, I do get a little anxious because I know my google reader is piling up! I wish I could comment on every blog I read... but I learned that's almost impossible!

Anonymous said... [reply]

I used to comment on practically every post I read. I don't do that anymore!! And I find that on the weekends, I have less time for blogging / commenting, because I'm not stuck in front of a computer all day. It's kind of nice.

hey lovie,
firstly those bliss balls and the raw key lime pie look amazingly good! and you look so gorgeous! so happy you had a great time with your lovely friend on her birthday! :)
i can relate so much about blogging affecting your life and work, school or just life in general for me...not so much now, because i blog maybe once a week, but in the past it would really take up my entire morning and cause a lot of stress, i have no idea why?...pressure?..too much attention i think, for me at least, and while i was in high school a year back my mind was always consumed with what to have for my snacks or meals etc that would be "blog worthy" at the time i was posting my daily eats every frickin day! and i wasn't really focusing as much as i should have on friends/socializing and school work. but girly go with whatever you think you need to do, and i think it is a great idea to take some time to focus on what is more important in your life at the moment, even though i will miss your lovely blog and you ;)

i have a desk job and am no longer in school sooo i get sidetracked 24/7 at work reading blogs and getting overly obsessed with nutrition...

i set myself my own rules so i only read blogs and get caught up twice a week and one morning on weekends. i end up playing catch up on a lot of blogs, but it keeps me sane and in the real world as opposed to cyber space!

Now that I'm out of school for summer I devote a lot of time to blog reading and writing. However, during exam time it just proved to be a distraction from studying. Blogs are WAY more addicting than facebook. I wish you luck with your doctorate!!

Don't worry girl, real life should always come first over blogging!
That pie looks delicious. Have a lovely weekend.!

I'm going through the same thing when it comes to blogging. I do enjoy it but find it incredibly time consuming; it's like having a full time job.

I totally respect and understand your decision; real life has to come first.

Girl, I had the same problem not too long ago. I like reading everyones blog, I just don't have the time to comment on all of them. Focus on school and don't stress over it! <3

Dana said... [reply]

Oh my gosh! all that food looks so damn good! Yumz..

I just started my blog. I dont know how ill keep up with it. Its hard to find time to post everyday & I love commenting on others blog and I barely have time to read them. Im busy with work and school. I guess Ill just post when I can and comment when I can.

I go through phases with blogging. Sometimes I want to dedicate a lot of time to it and other times I just don't feel like it. Lately I've been really into it so, even though I've been busy, I've been making sure I have time to blog.

I say do what you feel is best right now. Concentrating on your studies is definitely important!

Ameena said... [reply]

You are a smart girl! I need to stop blogging and commenting so much considering I have a million other things that should take precedence. I need to follow your lead.

In the meantime, as I comment and ignore what I just said I should do, I love looking at your delicious desserts.

Have a great weekend. Hope you have time to catch up!!

Oh what a fun outing with your friend - so glad she loved your fruit basket.. i still think it is a very creative gift! AMAZING desserts.. I would be skipping down the streets as well... bliss bar = amazing looking.

yes, sometimes i do find it hard to blog & comment & complete my school studies/ be as productive as I should be... so I only post 1 time a day, skip posting & commenting *but still read blogs, and post comments when I feel like I have free time... great balancing game.

good luck in your studies!

Don't worry at all about blogging/commenting! I know how hard it can be to balance everything :)
Oh my goodness, I almost died with jealousy when I checked out the Cafe Bliss menu!! Amazing!!! xxxx

I think it's great you have your priorities straight and will be focusing on studies right now -the blog will still be there later on when things slow down! I started my blog after I finished school and had more free-time...there's no way i could have kept a blog while in school!

I definitely have time issues on occasion, but I try to minimize that by only blogging in the mornings, with breakfast, because that is a time when I can't possibly be doing anything else. Sure it means getting up a bit earlier, but I enjoy it so to me it is worth it. I also don't post daily, so that also minimizes the amount of time I spend.

I will miss your frequent posts but I am glad that you will be out enjoying life. Just glad you are not giving it up entirely!

Those raw desserts look OMG good! I would never guess that they were raw if I just saw them.

Amanda said... [reply]

Those deserts look delicious :) and I am so glad that you are listening to your heart and doing what you feel is best! I definitely had to blog less during this past week because of all of my tests so I completely understand girl!! :)

Some weeks I found it so hard to balance work, school and blogging so sometimes I just took a week off. You gotta do what you gotta do and unfortunately, school is way more important than blogging!

Lauren said... [reply]

Your life and your dreams of being and ND are much more important than blogging! Blogging is something that is supposed to add to your life and make you happy, not suck the time out of you so that you can't do anything else. Of course you should blog if you enjoy it, just do it if and when you want to and don't worry about what anyone else thinks, or whether or not you can leave a comment on every single blog. No one has time for that! You are not the only one.

Glad you had fun with your friend! <3 xo

I can totally relate to the balance of blogging and school. During school I always put blogging on the back burner and during my off time I pick it back up. I think your decision is great. Good luck with school.

tara said... [reply]

Hey girl!! Focus on your studies, blogging should be fun not a pressure filled commitment, its a release if you will =]
I struggled to balance blogging and life, so I compromised,I blog as I feel once or twice a week usuallly, and I read blog 3 times a week or whenever I have time to kill. Reading everyday is just impossible, there are simply too many blogs that I love! =D
Im sure over time youwill find a balance that works for you, but for now I wish you all the best on your educational endevors ;)
Your so sweet giving your friend a fruit basket!!! Aww looks like you had fun, and those desserts look good, def worthy of being a little late to drum practice for! :P

Sometimes I feel bogged down from blogging too. I think after graduation my posts will be more sporadic too. I want to spend my month off before I start work to just enjoy myself! Not sit in front of the computer.

School is definitely more important and its great that you know where your priorities are!!

Lauren @ Health on the Run said... [reply]

I can relate to this 100%!!! I don't know if part of it is because I'm a newer blogger and haven't completely gotten into a rhythm yet, but I always feel SO much pressure to "keep up" with everyone's blogs...and get my posts out there at the same time. I really cut back on writing/reading in the past week because I had a lot of other stuff going on that had to take precedence. In a way, it was really freeing...but in the back of my mind, I couldn't shake these growing feelings of anxiety about my Reader piling up. This morning when I looked at it, it was so overwhelming I didn't know where to start!!

I know all of this is kind of silly, and that blogging is only one aspect of all of our lives, so sometimes it helps to just step back and put things in perspective. Of course I'd love to read a million and one blogs and comment on them all (and let's be honest, who doesn't love comments?!), but just like everything else, it's important to find the balance. Blogging should be a release, not a form of stress! :)

It looks like you've been able to overcome this a little in the past few days, which I'm happy to see. :) Good luck with your school work and trying to balance everything. People will still look forward to your posts -- no matter how often you're posting them. :)

I have trouble balancing life and blogging too! It's a fine balance and I tend to "fall behind" a lot...my email inbox is going crazy right now. Eek!
Have to do what you have to do though!
