Ooey Gooey Gluten

Hello Peeps!

It's so funny how the moment I choose to eat gluten is exactly when
so many of you post amazing gluten-free recipes on your blogs! haha

Alright, so let me recap the day...

I woke up a little hesitant but tried to pretend like it was just an ordinary day.
I replaced my brown rice gluten free wrap for a  whole wheat
*gasp* wrap to fill with eggs, kale, onions and mustard.

Wheat tastes weird!!!

It's been AGES since I've eaten it, and I wasn't too impressed. I was
hoping for the "Wow, I've been missing out!" effect to kick in...

In the past, anytime I had eaten wheat, I would have excruciating pain within 10 minutes of ingesting. But this time, I felt nothing! No symptoms and no pain. I think a lot may have to do with continuously taking Digestive Enzymes, Probiotics, and L-Glutamine to build up my intestinal lining... who knows...

Later in the day my Mom surprised me by stopping at
Green Cuisine and picking up a Vegan Cinnamon Bun :)

 Im. In. Love.

Have you ever seen a vegan cinnamon bun look this good?
This was DROOL DROOL DROOL. Although I had to fight off
a few greedy fingers trying to snatch this from me, I enjoyed it
with a cup of tea and symptom-free once again!!!

Day 1 Symptoms: None
(except a few minor itches and a little extra hunger)

Yay for being symptom free! And holy yay for amazing cinnamon buns. It's been ages since I've enjoyed one, and you're making me crave them like crazy :( Gah! There's nothing better than ooey, gooey, cinnamony, and sugary.

I know what you mean about things tasting weird after you haven't had them for a while. When I broke my 8 month stint with raw, every single grain I had tasted so. freaking. amazing. I was like in heaven...

Kelsey it's so great that you're symptom free! I'm crossing my fingers that you stay that way :)

Then you can enjoy even more yummy foods! :D

The roll looks incredible :) I don't think wheat is all that. I haven't had white bread or products in a while but I imagine that's the stuff that tastes the best.

Wow it's amazing that you're eating it and no symptoms. It could be that now your gut is healthier and more able to handle it...goes to show you that you have made great progress in healing thy gut!! AWESOME! Just dont push your luck and go on a gluten bonanza or anything...you dont wanna be paying the price, long term, i.e. FOREVER, of not being able to partake!

:)

That cinnamon roll looks SO good! Glad you aren't experiencing any symptoms yet-- that's a good sign! Tummy issues are so hard to figure out because there's so many variables and so many ailments. Here's to hoping both of us figure out what the heck our tummies do not love. :)

PS. You have my vote for a pop up comment, lol.

Yes...I don't think I've seen anything this month better looking than that delicious bun. I wonder if your body is able to handle the gluten since your system has been free of it for so long?

Anonymous said... [reply]

Horray!! This is so encouraging!! A drool-worthy vegan cinnamon roll is probably the best (certainly most delicious) way to reintroduce gluten into your diet! :-D

Anonymous said... [reply]

It's calling my name.

Anonymous said... [reply]

Yay! I hope it lasts :)
That cinnamon bun looks INCREDIBLE. I love cinnamon buns sooooo much! I haven't had one in ages. Perhaps that needs to change. Haha.

Good luck with everything! My family thought I might be gluten intolerant, but we found that it was mostly just triggers like grapes, cow's yogurt, and canned foods that set me off.

That is so interesting that your gut is healthier and now you aren't having the same reaction. I'm actually very happy for you- first of all that you aren't getting sick, but also, maybe you don't have to be so militant with your wheat eating now. It's never fun to have to inspect every label...sometimes you just want to live your life and eat what you want. Anyway, I hope that you continue to be symptom free. Even if you choose not to eat wheat or gluten going forward, it's good to know that you have a healthy gut. Happy weekend love! xoxoxo
