Autumn Air

Welcome to Autumn :)

I feel like I have some catching up to do
with you. Life has been keeping me busy...

Well, busy eating muffins too of course! Another yummy Green Cuisine
creation: Gluten Free Brown Rice Chocolate Chip Strawberry Muffin

Quick shout out to my girl Krista for making my
Espresso Chocolate Chip Muffins. They were incredible!

Muffins aside, school is whats been taking up most of my energy lately. Yoga
Training is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Between exploring my fascination for human
anatomy and working through the energy systems of our bodies, i've found my "niche"

I was really worried a couple years ago that I would never find a career or
line of work that made me feel passionate and enthusiastic. Let me ease anyone
feeling this way that when the time is right, you'll find what brings you joy

Don't worry, I haven't been on a mono-
muffin diet. This girl NEEDS her greens ;)

Egg n' Kale Wrap grilled in a Spinach Pesto Tortilla

Oh and I also got a package in the mail yesterday!!!

My Anti-Fatigue supplements from
Kroger Herb that I won from Averie <3

The little heart container is a pill box hehe

Red Kuri Squash is so much fun,
it's like a little harvest pumpkin!

Lately I noticed I have so much unused barleyso I put it to use...

Pearled BarleySquash, Chicken and Vegetable Stir-fry

Pearled barley, red kuri squash, chicken, capers, broccoli, spinach,
bean sprouts, celery, beet greens, red onion, spices, and mustard

I took a picture of my pretty bowl. 50 cents @ Value Village baby!!

Question: Do you have a favorite bowl/mug/
plate that you use, or does it change frequently?

I definitely have favourite bowls and plates and spoons and knives and mugs and glasses :P etcetc.
Anddd... because I like things to look pretty, there's certain foods I eat that I know look better on certain plates/bowls :P
I'm so glad you're loving your yoga training!

That muffin LOOKS good.. but it doesn't SOUND so good to me :P I have this weird thing where I don't like to mix chocolate and fruit... so any fruity flavours with chocolate mixed in is a big no-no (unless of course it's dried fruit. Yeah, I'm a crazy girl!)

I am so happy that you are enjoying your studies SO much. I have the same sort of thing going on, where I have NO IDEA where I am going to end up... but lately I've been trying to remind myself that it will work out as it always does :)

I have a favorite coffee mug that I drink my coffee from and then make my oats in right afterwards. I don't know why I love it so much, but it is just the perfect size shape and feel!

Glad you are loving classes! Have a great day Kelsey!

YES! LOL, I have a favourite spoon :)
I bought it from a book store this summer and I've used it everyday since then!

I definitely have favorite mugs for coffee/tea- would you guess they are also the biggest ones I own? lol

I'm glad to hear the yoga training is going well and that you are so excited about it! Yea! :) Have a great weekend!!!

Hi there. That barley looks interesting. Nice muffins as usual. I wish I could comment more on your site..I love reading it (I read it a lot), its just hard to upload from my google reader --- takes forever. I also want to say thanks for such a lovely comment recently...not necessary, but gosh it was nice.
You are so neat Kelsey.

I haven't found my "niche", but it's not for lack of trying. I'm so indecisive! And that alone makes me think that I haven't really found anything that I'm passionate about yet. I could say that I'm passionate about certain aspects of everything I'm thinking about doing, but nothing really in particular.

Oh well, maybe one day :)

I have a favorite bowl! It's from Target! It's purple with flowers on it, and it's bigger than our other bowls. Aside from the mixing bowls, that is! I make sure to wash it everday, so it will be available whenever!

so glad you're enjoying the yoga so far. I think it's fantastic that you have found something that you're so passionate about (that and baking muffins). I've never heard of that squash - must find some now of course. Hope you have a great Friday sweetie!!

So great that you have found a satisfying vocation!

My favorite mugs to use have various meanings to me... right now I'm drinking out of a mug I got in 1995, when I graduated elementary school!

Anonymous said... [reply]

oh yeah, i love big, ceramic bowls from anthropologie. they are sort of art deco looking and i actually take joy in eating of out them haha. so glad to hear you are enjoying class. what kind of yoga will you teach?

Anonymous said... [reply]

Kelsey I am so happy for you that you found a career that you are passionate about! I hope to figure that out one day :)

I used to collect tons of odd dishes from Pier 1 or garage sales or thrift stores. Then I got sick of them all and donated them. Now I am slowly building up my collection again!

Every. Single. Time.

You post your egg and kale wraps and I think I HAVE to rty that. But -- do you cook the kale?

I'll have to search your archives.

I am so happy that you have found your niche.
Do you have any idea what type of yoga you would like to teach (kundalini, ashtanga...etc?)

As for your yoga T.T., I am soo happy for you; I was your age probably when I did my 1st yoga TT stuff and it changed my life forever. So happy youve found that special something too :)

That 50 cent bowl is a major score, so beautiful!!!

yoga is a touchy subject for me. that was taken away from me even trying to see if it was right...but it's not. wasn't . maybe. and it wouldn't pay my bills ever. and i'm tight as a board and no ambition.

so back to real life. but - your MUFFINS - that made me happy ;)

Geeez that's a good looking muffin!

I'm glad you've found your niche through yoga training- that's when I found mine, too!! After taking *years* of classes, I never quite fell in love with it until I went through training and learned a certain style of teaching.

When we get a house I will fill it with all sorts a lovely new bowls and dishes...in the meantime, I'm stuck with what I've got. Nothing cute. haha

Your muffins are torturing me btw. ;)

I have this ginormous bowl that I use for soups and salads. It was a gift from someone who picked it up in Chinatown (Victoria). I kind of heart it!!!!

BTW - I'm sad that you didn't advance to the next level of the Next Food Blog Star competition. I thought your entry was really great!

PS: I moved my blog from "To be the Whole Package" to http://torontogirlwest.com

i need to make some of your gigantic muffins someday... every time I look it, I want to bite it!!!
and your barley bowl looks pretty good too... I like pearl barley much more than normal ones... but they're more expensive :(

Monique@She's Going The Distance said... [reply]

I can't believe it's pumpkin time already!!!!! And, I have a set of four travel mugs that I rotate through often. I don't like our generic blue ones. The travel ones are so much more fun :)

Anonymous said... [reply]

I have a heart bowl that I got for $3 at Winners. I eat breakfast from it every morning. It makes me smile. :)

Anonymous said... [reply]

!!! I was going to comment on how pretty that bowl is. I'm actually trying to go to the thrift store to buy a special mug for me to use when I'm at the studio :D

All of these foods look so delicious! I just want to taste them lol.

I'm so glad that things are going well for you at school. Always be true to yourself and you'll just feel better about things, you know what I mean?

XOXO

I have several favorite mugs and bowls I use according to mood. :) Plate not so much - I'm a bowl eater because I often eat while sitting in my chair with my legs tucked up (weird, okay), and then a bowl is easier to hold than a plate.

Is that a Chinese bowl you have there?

I love that kind of squash! I eat it ALL THE TIME currently. Is kuri the usual name for it? In German supermarket you'll find it as hokkaido squash, but that name seems to be unusual in the U.S. It's my favorite squash, along with kabocha.

Yay doesn't it feel so good to finally be pursuing something you're passionate about? It just feels so right!

I love scoring cute dishes at Value Village and garage sales! All of my favourite bowls are from Ikea and Pier 1 though.

Glad you're found a line of work that you truly enjoy! Now you'll never work a day in your life :)

I have a favorite turtle bowl that I use almost every night for ice cream, lol. Otherwise I don't care too much!

highonhealthy said... [reply]

I don't have a favorite dish because I live with my parents and they're all boring/ugly. Wait.. I DO have one plate that I like. It has a unicorn and rainbow on it. :3 Haha.

Jolene - EverydayFoodie said... [reply]

I definitely have favourite dishes ... and it never changes, unless the dish breaks :-( I only drink coffee out of my to-go cup, never out of a mug. My trusty mug broke a few weeks ago, so I have been using my second fave, but it is almost broken too, and I can't find the same ones anymore.

I'm happy to hear you have found a niche. And, it sounds like a fun one! ONe that I would be interested in as well. I was so happy when I discovered dietetics, so I can related to that feeling of excitement.

Favorite bowl or plate? No, but favorite mug? Definitely. IN fact I'm using it right now! It's my largest mug and it's got lots of fun fall colors on it.

Anonymous said... [reply]

So glad you're loving your training! It has taken me time to figure out my 'niche', but I think I'm getting there.. and it's such a relief! I also wasn't sure I'd ever find it... just goes to show you you just have to keep looking and not settle :)

Muffins and stirfry look delish!!

Happy Weekend x

glad to hear you are liking your yoga training. isn't it great to find something you truly enjoy?!

I lurv muffins! Always eat the bottom first and save the top for last ;)

I used to have a couple of cups with expressions on them (happy, sad, angry). I ALWAYS drank from them, and as a result, the dishwasher washed the expressions away so now they're just a couple of yellow cups :(

Thanks for the shout out, hun! The muffins were divine and I have plans to make another of your recipes for sure!

Isn't barley great? I use it in place of rice in risotto quite a bit. YUM!

So glad you're enjoying your yoga classes! It helps so much to be able to truly enjoy what you're doing...

I'm so happy that you've found something that you truly enjoy, it's so inspirational how you've overcome so much to be able to do something you love.
I adore your bowl. And it was so cheap too! My favourite bowl at the moment is a really cute designer bowl that my mum got by collecting vouchers off yoghurt pots! They are usually about £20, so I think I love it a little bit more because it was only £3 :p
Thank you for all your lovely words and support
