Blahs and Bipolar

My Bowl of Oatmeal for Breakfast is the perfect
analogy for how i've been feeling lately: BLAH

1/2 cup quick oats cooked with 1 cup water and 1 scoop
brown rice protein powder stirred in with a dash of stevia

Wild Salmon Salad Wrap with Spinach for Lunch

For those of you who are new to my blog, you can check
back to this post where I talked about my mood disorders

It's always been my intention to find alternatives to prescription/
pharmeceutical drugs, due to the side effects, although it is almost
impossible to find natural treatments for Bipolar Disorder

Lately, my whole world has been flipped upside down and I have been
rapidly cycling between mania and depression, feeling out of
control and helplessAs much as I try to limit conversing online about
my personal health, there are times when my blog becomes a helpful outlet

Long story, short, I was sent a link about a product called EMPowerPlus by True Hope: Nutrition for Mental Health. Originally a Canadian based company, they were faced with legal issues and forced to move to the U.S. EMPowerPlus is seen as a 'controversial' treatment approach because it is a Vitamin/Mineral versus Prescription treatment

Hundreds of people have come forth with miraculous results and firmly stand by this product. And given everything going on with my health, I feel it is worth a try. My shipment should arrive in the mail next week, and I will keep everyone updated when it does. I am crossing my fingers that this works and I can add my name to the list of 'Success Stories'

Stop the Stigma: Did you know there are many
well-known people who suffer from Bipolar Disorder?

Alvin Ailey, Carrie Fischer, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Demi Lovato, Macy Gray, Matthew Good, Russell Brand, Sinead O'Connor, Stephen Fry, Virginia Woolf, and many others

Oh, girl, I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through such a difficult time :( I've struggled with my own issues for years and I know how hard it can be to open up because of all the stigma attached, but having to deal with it in silence can be even worse. I really hope that that vitamin treatment works for you. Stay hopeful!

You are such a champ for being so honest and putting yourself out there! It sucks that you're going through this... Bipolar disorder is tough to deal with... I truly hope the new medication works for you! Stay strong and keep trying to find something that works for you and that you're comfortable with!
Good luck!

You are so brave Kailey. It's really hard dealing with a medical condition that has no easy answer. There's a constant physical and mental stuggle that comes with trying new approaches and hoping that they work. It's scary but it's good to push forward and you're doing it!

Love always!

I so much hope the product will work for you, Kelsey! I don't have bipolar disorder, but I've suffered from depression due to PTSD, and I also get it when I take hormones (when I take hormonal contraceptives or consume too much soy I get it), so I think Ican relate a little. The crazy thing about mood disorders is that they directly tackle your motivation - you just don't have the will power to go against it, because you will (via your motivation) is taken over by the mood disorder. It really is a qualitatively different (and very miserable) state of being, and I think it's hard to understand for somebody who's never had it.

I think it's great that you use your blog as an outlet. I hope it'll help you to feel better, and bring you lots of support. :)

I can't wait to hear how this medicine works. I've been struggling lately and I need something to make me feel right. I've been trying so many different prescriptions and nothing seems to be helping.

As far as I know, it is much easier to get medications approved in the US than in Canada because Canada has stricter regulations. Regardless, I hope you feel better soon even though I understand this is difficult.

The sun will be shining soon :)

hey hun,

Thankyou for posting this. I do have some understanding of the stigma attached to mental illness as I suffer with anorexia and depression. I have a friend with bipolr too and know how awful the rapid cycles of mood change can be. use your blog as a place to outlet all the thoughts that go through your head, it's okay to have happy and sad post too. thankyou for raising awareness of the stigma that mental illnesses can bring up. i wish you the best of luck in your recovery. if you ever need to talk please message me.

So sorry to hear you are having to deal with all that right now :-( As a very close friend suffers from bipolar disorder and has been on the med rollercoaster for a while now, I really appreciate you trying to find alternative approaches. I will look forward to hearing what you think about EMPower Plus! I hope you have a good weekend, and thanks for sharing...

'Blah' would just about sum up my state of mind at the moment too. I think you're so brave for putting yourself out there like this and drawing attention to the devestating effects of bipolar disorder. I hope with all my heart that the remedy works for you, and that you achieve all the happiness and peace that you deserve.

Thank you also for sharing your experiences with me in your comment: it really meant a lot because I do look up to you very much as being totally in tune with yourself and a perfect being, from your long lithe limbs to your eloquence in your posts.

*hugs*

My aunt is bipolar, so I've seen how it can affect someone. I'm sorry you're in a bad place right now. Stop eating boring oatmeal, no one needs that ;)

I really hope this natural medicine works for you! I'm not Bipolar but have suffered from depression and I'm reading this book now... its a memoir written by a women with adult onset Bipolar (meaning she was symptom free until she was about 18?). It's really insightful and she is very candid about her experiences and struggles. It's called "An Unquiet Mind" by Kay Redfield Jamison. I'm not sue if it would rehash things for you in a negative way but maybe it could be of some help! Hope you feel better!
