I'm a blogger of few words...
Mainly because I've gotten about 4 hours sleep in 2 days. I've been so busy running errands, getting books for school, filling out my passport documents, working towards my drivers liscence and setting aside time for blogging. At least my body is having no problem wheat!
That's a good sign ;)
Argh i'll be less grumpy
after a good night's sleep...
I should mention that i've gone book-overboard!
Over the past two years I have obtained a rediculous quantity of
health and nutrition books, most of which haven't been read!
The first step is admitting you have a problem...
The second step is buying a bigger bookcase!
90% of these were $2.00-$4.00 used books,
so somehow it makes it okay... (insert DENIAL)
K well it's not like I collect cats or something, then we'd be in trouble!
BTW i'm going to catch up on your blogs tonight before I keel over in zZzzZzz land... gonna try my best to comment but please know that i'm still reading and drooling over your posts!
Questions: Have you read any of these books?

aww, hope you get more rest tonight Kelsey. as much as i love seeing you around the blogosphere, definitely rest up your body first. blogging will always be there and can always wait.
the only books i really collect are cookbooks (and now books for my kids). ironic because i'm a former teacher but don't like reading...haahaa. CUTE squirrel pics by the way!
Awww, Kelsey...when do you start school???
I am so happy to hear no more wheat attacks!!
I have collected a ridiculous amount of nutrition books myself...since like 7th grade, and I am 29...so you do the math, LOL. A lot of which has gone to book sales, lost at my moms house, in storage....but many on my shelves that I have no room for!! I liked Master Your Metabolism, to an extent. A lot of great points, but now that I am mostly veg her concept of it "It didn't have a mother don't eat it" kind of irks me. I LIVEEEED by the GI diet for years!! I read that about 11 years ago, a few versions have come out since, but I remember writing a diet plan based on it, lol.
I have gotten into more recipe books lately..I have SO many, and most of them usually collected dust, I always just went online to find what I wanted..but recently, I have gotten more into Raw cook books, and like reading the stuff in them...and some of my nutrition books have recipes in them now too like Thrive, Engine 2 and Integrative Nutrition.
Good luck at school!!! Don't stay up too late trying to comment on all our blogs, you need your rest!!
XO
awww that little guy is too cute!!
i've been thinking i have a growing cookbook problem - but i guess not :P i think if i found a boatload for 2-4 $, though - I'd have a collection as large as yours. No shame there, girl!!
I hope you're able to catch up on your zzz's tonight. Sounds like busy busy days!!
Oooh I love your book collection!!!! I love reading books about all of those things. I just got the book Gorgeously Green by Sophie Uliano and can't wait to delve into it more (it'll have to wait until I finish the 6th Harry Potter book though) <3
I hope you're wheat experimenting is still going well and not making you sick or anything!
xoxo
I want ALL of these books! So jealous of your collection! Right now I'm reading the Thrive book. It's ok so far. Hope you get some sleep love!
I LOOVE reading recipe books, mainly because I like to take a yummy recipe and try to make it healthier. I know what you mean about school....I start tomorrow. I really enjoyed reading this blog and definitely will again!!!!
I have so many books its insane. A lot I read when I was in middle school/high school, paid full price and read them in a day. It's bad. I have 5 books to read before school starts. Good thing I have over a month left!
I really hope you get sleep tonight!
yay! i've been looking forward to seeing these pictures :) oh what i would do with your collection....probably grab a pillow, a Starbucks, and sit in your library for hours!
i've read a lot of books...particially. usually, i'll read the major chapters and skip the rest. (some of them are just too long.) i really want the "Eat Clean Diet" book but i haven't seen it anywhere! (just in Canada.) truth be told, our selection out here isn't that great. we're a long, long way from Chapters! :)
hey - i'm supposed to be starting a new diet but i'm totally uninspired. i need a healthy living plan, not a weight loss plan. if you have any suggestions i'd love to hear them!
enjoy your sleep, hun! (hey, are you travelling somewhere? i noticed you mentioning your passport application...)
haha oh my - wow that is a lot of books! !!!! I am addicted to books though too :)
And I thought I had a ridiculous collection of books ;) Your collection puts my collection to shame, m'dear. I have the same problem with buying books that I never end up reading... or if I do read them, it takes me like over a year to pick them up first. There are just too many good ones out there! Health, fitness, recipes... I like to read a little bit of everything; add fiction to that mess and you have one big pile of books, with one very undecided girl buried underneath it.
Hope you're getting some rest, hun <3
You need to come to my blog because I made your cookies! I love them! I feel that most nutrition and diet books tell you the same things in different ways. I do want to get a Raw food book just to see what knd of foods I can play around with. You do have a problem, but I think we all have a food "problem" of some sort. That is why we are here.
Oh my goodness, I love the way you think! Step two, buy a bigger bookcase - genius! :P
I used to have all my books in my bedroom.. and then my bookshelves got overwhelmingly full - as did every other storage space.. so I put bookshelves in my office - that also got filled.. so now I have piles of books everywhere :P
See books are a good thing to collect - at least they help your brain :P Or your belly if you're like me and collect cookbooks :P
Cute post!
I love a combination of health/recipe books, but I enjoy reading about other diets (Paleo, Vegan, Vegetarian), etc. I'm not on a specific diet (meaning I pretty much eat everything), so I love getting a new perspective. My favorite is Alicia Silverstone's The Kind Diet.
Wow that is a LOT of books!! I have a community book room in my apartment building and I love going in there to check out what they have. I love reading about food and nutrition but also a little of everything!
Woman, we need to form a club! You are my book soul mate. I have a horrible problem with getting food/nutrition books. I have actually cut myself off. Sleep well!
So many books I love it! I def have a few lying around from amazon that I have not gotten around to reading. Even those were atleast 7 bucks. I should track down a used book store around here...
Make sure you get some sleep! When do you start school? Like college or something? Fill us in please :]
ha ha ha... I may have to call that tv show about hoarders on you... :p
I'm a big fan of nutrition books- or basically just ones that explain new/different eating lifestyles/habits. I'm always curious as to how different people live their lives!
Bahaha, this looks like my bookshelf!
Get a good night's sleep girl!
You make me laugh. Watch out for muffin addictions.
I used to buy a lot of used books, but try to just pick them up from the library now, since I don't reread many books. Many of the ones you've obtained look familiar, but I haven't read them. I like to read about nutrition and fitness, but I also like to read food histories and books on local foods and organics.
wow you've got a lot of healthy/food books!! awesome!!! I only have one...and plus cookbooks.
I hope you sleep well tonight!!!!
I can totally relate to your buy a bigger bookcase strategy. I have two bookcases now and still have 3 stacks of books on the floor. I refuse to give them up. Books are so comforting! When I was younger, my dream was to have a library in my house like in Beauty and the Beast. One day...
Ha! I definitely do not have that many books. Where are you going? I haven't been online the past couple days (out of town), so maybe I've missed this.
You should have a garage sale! I am this weekend because it's National Garage Sale Day on Saturday (in the US, I guess)
Wow! That's a lot of books! I honestly read my books for fun (usually some kind of crime novel) and journal articles for school. The squirrel is wayyyy cute. Do you actually have one?
You and me are a lot of like. We currently are housing several boxes of books on our dining room table because we don't have the shelf space...I need to downsize. I hope you have a relaxing and restful evening love!
awww what cute little squirrels! I prefer a little of everything =) Sweet dreams!
Whoa!! Now that is a lot of books. I thought I had a lot! haha I love reading recipe books, but most of all I love reading nutrition books and the affects certain diets have on people. I know this could change depending on the person, but I still find it super interesting.
Wow, i don't feel so bad about all my books now! I love books on all of the above! But especially nutrition. I love that what we feed our bodies can lead to physical and mental wellness :)
Sleep well, lady bug (I think that's a quote from a film....)
I hardly have ANY nutrition books!! Honestly, I get any information that I am curious about from the internet... so I don't really feel the need to buy any :) I would much rather spend money on novels (though it's usually much more than two dollars because I have a thing with used books... I like to have them new and untouched. Crazy much?)
Congrats on the wheat-tolerant tummy!!!
<3 Tat
I have a couple nutrition books, but I usually get them from the library so I can read and return. When I found out about the gluten intolerance I went book crazy!!! However, I've slowed it down over the course of the past few months and have been a regular at the library checking out wonderful fiction novels! I am going to go to the store to purchase "eat pray love" and "operation beautiful" in the next couple of days - YAY!
I am SOOOOO glad your tummy has been okay with wheat. Jealous, but happy for you! :)
I hopeyou got a good night's sleep!!
xoxox
I am a book addict. I worked in a bookstore for 5 years if that tells you anything at all. I must own the hardback copy too. It's crazy. I too am in need of more book shelves b/c I won't stop buying the books. LOL
Get some rest!
I have so many of those books! I love health/nutrition/fitness books. Even if I get 1 sentence of advice, I find they are worth it. If anything, it is nice to get different opinions and ideas about certain foods, lifestyles, recipes, etc.
I've started donating a book each time I buy a new one, because I have too many books!
ahh girl definitely catch up onyour sleep!!! i know i feel AWFUL when i am running on only a little :)
& love al hte books- used book stores are the best!!
I read so many books but don't keep them I pass them on!
I LOVE to read! I've been known to read cereal boxes. HAHA! I'm jealous over your collection. There's honestly not much I wouldn't read.
Hi Sleepy Head!
I am very jealous of your book collection. I love to read about all of that stuff.
What book or books are your favorite when it comes to diet and nutrition?
I LOVE Michael Pollan and Mark Bittman, too.
The Kind Life Diet recently came out (Alicia Silverstone) and that was pretty good! Vegan and she also incorporates Macrobiotics.
~Missy
holy health books! you should do a giveaway of some of those!
I love reading about health--really anything! oh and get some sleep! :)
Haha wow girl that is quite the collection! I've been taking out a lot of cookbooks from the library this summer. I also love reading cooking magazines for recipes! I haven't read too many nutrition books lately, but I'm excited to get back to school so I can start reading my nutrition textbooks! Haha, I'm such a nerd!
I hope things get less hectic for you so that you can get a good night's sleep! :)
I'm obsessed with reading about nutrition, but reading about fitness is just plain boring. I'd rather be moving than reading about moving. (I'd also rather be eating than reading about eating, but so it goes.)
I also have a lot of books about nutrition and lot of fitness books... and my shelves are overstuffed with books like yours :-)
What do you think about jillian Michaels "Master your Metabolism"? I´m playing with the thought of buying it
Ooooh I want to come over and raid your bookcase!!! I am the same way - I buy TONNES of books, and most are food/ nutrition/ natural health related.
