Because all the Cool Kids are Wearing Mittens ... in the Summer ?

Unlike Santa Clause, Summer
didn't arrive at my house this year!

Sure, the sun has been out and we've had a few warm days,
but tell me why i've been having to wear this getup in the mornings...

British Columbia isn't usually THIS bad, but so far it's still been warm,
cold, warm, cold and freaking cloudy. Thankfully I do have California
to look forward to next year, but how is this girl going to make it until then?

Anyone live somewhere hot with room for a squirrel? haha

At least muffins help...

Gluten Free Banana Blueberry Chocolate Brown Rice Muffin

I was in need of much more warming foods,
so I made my usual kale and mustard wrap...

Only this time subbing chicken for eggs...

...and grilling it up on the George Foreman

I wanted some trail mix badly, but all I
found were chocolate chips to snack on...

Hey, no complaints from me!

Dinner was oven-roasted SwEeT pOtAtOeS

My version of heaven... ahhh

I'm glad everyone loved my Peanut Butter Bliss Bars. My mom came home with
an empty plate which is good news! Everyone wanted my recipe, but I said, "No,
it's top secret! only the privileged readers on my blog get the rights to have it!" lol

Question: Where do you live, and
how has the weather been this week?

ewwwww cold weather!!! Where in CA are you going?!?! :) I'm not too far from the San Francisco Bay Area, but I may be moving in the next year. Who knows?? :)

Hopefully it warms up so you don't need that thick jacket!!!

Oh, brrrrr!!! It's in the 80's where I live! I hope it gets warmer for you!

Your wrap looks AMAZING! Yummy!

Muffins make everything better---esp if they have a muffin top like that! YUM!

It's been warm here lately--but the past 2 days we've gotten a nice nice break.

I can't believe it's cold where you are! here it's about 100 degrees (F) every day!! And the G Foreman makes every wrap deliciousss :)

I live in Australia - and it is sooooooooooooooooo cold at the moment1 I am counting down the days until summer!

Anonymous said... [reply]

Hello! Here in Texas it is extremely hot and humid. The sky seems to want to rain today, but it hasn't yet. Again, your muffin looks amazing! I need a bakery nearby to get delicious muffins, or maybe I will just make my own.

Crystal said... [reply]

What do you put on your roasted sweet potatoes? They look so good!

It is warm here (Southern California), though the highest it hasn't gone above 80. I'm sure in the valleys it's way hotter.

Muffins do help... and so does everything else you made! WOW!

Sarena Shasteen - The Non-Dairy Queen said... [reply]

I live in Atlanta which is pretty much hotter than the hubs of H*LL right now! You are more than welcome to come here though! Try to stay warn sweetie!

Anonymous said... [reply]

Aww! Poor thing. I know how you feel, though. We've been having some very un-summer like weather here in Alberta too. Although I'm betting that the muffins and choco chips made things better :) Treats have a way to warm us up inside even when the weather can't.

Anonymous said... [reply]

OHHH my gosh It's SO COLD here too!!!! I can't believe I'm wearing a thick black sweater at the end of JUNE!!!

Sunny Cali for you next, eh? Take me with you!!! Jay kay. :P Don't worry, Canada, I still love you.

You inspire me to make wraps. That is all.

loooooove,
a squirrel-lover

You are welcome to come visit me. It's most definitely not cold! It was 80 degrees at 5:45 am when I went out to run yesterday.

Chelsea said... [reply]

It's been pretty chilly here for the past couple days as well! I kind of like chilly mornings though. It reminds me of fall. :)

Gina; The Candid RD said... [reply]

I'll blow some heat your way! I will say, Columbus summers are typically very hot and humid. The past couple of days, however, have been perfect. Almost fall-like. I love it. Wait until Augst though. Ugh.

Love the muffin top (Best part obviously), and the kale, mustard, and chicken wrap. Looks delicious.

Squirrels like my house in missouri hahahh

Anonymous said... [reply]

those muffins are picture perfect! did you bake them? and those plates are super cute too!

Anonymous said... [reply]

You are too cute :)

I think a handful of chocolate chips sounds fantastic.

We may have heat, but you have Degrassi. Think of it that way.

Anonymous said... [reply]

Awww I can't believe it's still so cold there! I hope it warms up soon! Your muffin looks delicious :D

Anon said... [reply]

your potatoes look amazing!!! what herbs/spices do you use?

as for cold....its freakin' 100 down here in Texas. I don't miss the cold.

Justine said... [reply]

Sweet potato! :)
It's pretty warm in Oklahoma, too much so for my tastes but I'm a cold weather girl at heart. I need to find our old George Forman. I think he is making a come back.

Unknown said... [reply]

Oh perfect, I can make those GF muffins for our next race/trip. They will be a perfect snack!

Our weather is hot, humid, and now rainy. WEIRD! So sporadic.

P.S.
I found the GF graham crackers. YEA!!!

All of your food looks super good today! That muffin looks to die for - I'm telling you (again) to send any gluten free foods my way haha!

I live about 30 minutes south of Chicago - it is hot and humid here! We actually have a cooler front moving in, so the humidity is gone for now. We have been having a lot of crazy storms here though. Cross your fingers that on July 30th for my wedding is nothing but blue skies!!!

Anonymous said... [reply]

It's really cold where I live too. We had been getting nice, summery weather for the last few weeks, then all of a sudden it started to feel like fall. So annoying. It makes me crave cool weather foods too.

Lele said... [reply]

I desperately want a George Foreman grill. I love love love hot grilled sandwiches but I am just ridiculously lazy!

I'm cold all the time. Even when it's hot outside I'm usually cold. So clearly BC is not the place for me (even though I love love love Vancouver and really want to visit it again!)

Anonymous said... [reply]

It was so hot last week, then all the sudden we got a 15-20 degree drop. What is this????

Anonymous said... [reply]

I am so not a fan of the weather here right now either, sigh!! Love those PB bliss bars, I def need to try out the recipe!

Anonymous said... [reply]

Oh, I'm so sorry that your weather is acting up! You look so freezing all bundled up in that picture...I'm the same way when it is cold outside...or I just hide inside haha.
As you know, I live in Toronto...I've actually spent the past few days in Hamilton which is a few cities West of T.O (about an hour away). I was visiting my sister...the weather is about the same as in T.O though! It's been rainy on and off and the past few days have actually been really nice so that was a good break. I hope your weather starts looking up soon. And remember, you are Cali bound!
xoxoxo

I live in southern CA, but we seem to be having June gloom :-( Muffins sure do help though haha.

Anonymous said... [reply]

Hey girl!e I can't believe it's so chilly you have to wear a jacket. It's HOT in NYC- too hot- I'm dying here and I don't have an AC : (

Averie @ Averie Cooks said... [reply]

Girl it is SO cold here at nights! The pics i posted today of the mall...it was 76 and sunny but at night, we go for a late powerwalk b/c my hubs works late...well, i am literally wearing a down coat. I'd rather be hot than cold so i bundle up! Even during the day w/ no sun...brrrr!

glad you liked my F 21 finds. And yes, there are certain ppl who shouldnt wear certain things for whatever reason but as long as you have some confidence, well, it can work itself out. but i know what you mean. i see some get-ups on some girls and im like no.way.

Those sweet potatoes look amazing...but I'm sorry it is still so chilly. It is very toasty in Colorado right now, and I'm wishing I could take a bit of your cool air (especially in the evenings!). I hope you have a great day tomorrow!

YUM to the cupcakes and the roasted sweet potatoes!!! I want them all! :)

Sorry the weather's been rubbish with you. It's been uncharacteristically warm over here in the UK. Am loving it though.

Hope the weather gets better for you soon xxx

OK I tried to comment once. Lets see if it works this time. Sorry its been chilly there! I live in Charleston, SC and its been super hot. I love the heat and humidity! Wraps are so much better grilled- aren't they? And I also did some roasted sweet potatoes last night- heavenly!

Simply Life said... [reply]

ha, I love that you've shared your secret recipe with all of us :)

Joanne said... [reply]

Come to NYC! The weather has been hot, but actually okay yesterday! I want a dinner that consists entirely of sweet potatoes...what did you put on them?

Lindsay @ http://pancakesnpajamas.blogspot.com/ said... [reply]

Whew..no torture to start my work day today! :) I'm in Charleston, SC and it has been hot hot and tons of humidity. We've had some thunderstorms the last two nights, so that's made for good sleeping weather. Head on down to Charleston chicky!

Anonymous said... [reply]

The weather's been really good here for the last couple of weeks - very unusual for Wales!
But today everything's back to normal - grey sky, rain, wind *sigh*
As always, I'm a bit in love with the muffin!

I cannot believe it's so cold there! The wrap looks so good.

Here in Greece, it's rather hot but fortunately not as hot as usually.

Krista said... [reply]

The weather in southern Ont has been the same as you! Hot, rain, and now bright and sunny but chilly! What gives? It feels more like late September around here, not July 1! Grrr...

erica said... [reply]

The weather here hasnt been perfect summer weather, I feel like its last summer all over again. I hope it gets nicer out!

Anonymous said... [reply]

It was really hot earlier this week, but now it's in the low 70s. I am cold. But I think you're even colder, so now I don't feel so bad. ;)

I live in Milwaukee and it's been a little cool all week, which I have to admit I like. I hate to be hot.

Hope you warm up soon!

Anonymous said... [reply]

You're always welcome to come to Minnesota, but I don't think that's the balmy beach weather you're looking for..haha.

Weather has been nice though, 80s so at least I can still lounge by the pool!

Keep warm!

Anonymous said... [reply]

No! My comment was erased. :(

In OKlahoma, it's very hot right now. Almost too hot. It's like we skipped Spring.

I love my George Foreman grill. And you are so darn cute!

Anonymous said... [reply]

I will gladly trade places with you right now (and eat some of the muffins :)) High of 111 and low of 87 here in Phoenix. I tried to go for a 2 mile walk at 6:30 this morning and was sweating way too much for that early!

Unknown said... [reply]

You're going to Cali next year?? Fill me in girl!

The weather here has been h.u.m.i.d. but I think it's starting to ease up (thank god)!

Rain, rain, rain..... and pretty cold! I was hoping to get a tan while on our boat!!

Nicole said... [reply]

do you have a muffin top pan to make muffins in?? It looks like you do, where did you get it? I really want one! It will get warmer for you I hope, if not come to NY :)

Anonymous said... [reply]

The weather has seriously been nutso! I'm on the other side of the country but we're still getting chilly strange temps here too. What's THAT about? Though this weekend is supposed to be a scorcher so I guess summer is coming back!

And you're seriously a wrap queen. I need to get myself a sandwich press one of these days. Completely loving those potatoes too, whooooa!

Laury@TheFitnessDish said... [reply]

Awww, you can come stay with us in PA :-)

The grilled wrap is amazing, I can't eat a wrap unless it's grilled! Roasted sweet potatoes...yum yum yum!!!

Stay warm!!!

Missy said... [reply]

we like squirrels in South Florida!

Lori said... [reply]

Those muffins look awesome and that wrap! Yum! Never thought of making something so simple as kale, chicken, and mustard as a filling- but why not?! And one can NEVER go wrong with roasted sweet potatoes! Yum to all!

Anonymous said... [reply]

Aww, you're so cute in your winter get-up!

Hey, I'm all for warm foods right now. Texas is pretty hot at the moment, but I'm feeling a little under-the-weather. Soup and a grilled wrap sounds amazing... I think that will be my dinner. :)

Lovin' the chocolate chips and sweet potatoes. You should try them together. :)
