New Year, New Food

If I am going to be successful at going sugar-free, I need new groceries. And you're in for a treat because i'm showing you my new stash of foods. No sugar to be found in
here folks! Let's just hope this new path allows us to keep episodes like this, at bay ;)

Organic cottage cheese, raw hemp nut butter and hormone-free stewing beef

Lot's of healthy organic greens

My obsession with Eden Organic products never ends. Along
 with their mustard, I've got a shit load (pun not intended) of beans;

Only Oats (uncontaminated oats) in "quick flake" form, a
lemon, brown mushrooms, 0% plain yogurt and free run eggs

Found some gluten-free all-natural turkey franks which I can't wait to try!
Both meats I picked up from Red Barn Market

Some chicken legs and thighs (k that feels strange to type) from Planet Organic

Broccoli, free run egg whites, Raincoast Trading wild

Avocados, zucchini, onion, pumpkin seeds and unflavored whey protein powder

Questions: Are you a bean lover
and eater? What's your favorite(s)?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE grocery hauls!

Looks like you've got a good selection of foods---now it's time to see what you make with all of it ;-)

Great healthy way to start the new year! xo

So many amazing groceries! I wish I could afford all organic or natural stuff but usually have to settle for generic stuff. Sometime's it's even healthier than the name brand stuff, though so it's not all that bad! haha

It's so exciting to prepare for some big change in your life. Kind of like.. getting some new yoga gear ;) It feels fresh and waiting for you to try! I also love how the eggs are called "free run" and the little illustration.. sounds more whimsical than cage-free lol.

I love beans! They're my main source of protein. Since I eat them so much I actually invested in a pressure cooker so I can buy the dried beans and save a lot of money instead of constantly buying canned beans (they take forever to cook simply on the stovetop). My favorite are chickpeas and red lentils.

XOXO best of luck! I can't wait to see what you are up to in this coming year my love.

I love beans! I eat some everyday :P They're just so versatile and satisfying!! Anyway, I'm loving your groceries, I mean.. Hemp butter!? Wow, I didnt even know they made that! And I also get that same brand of tuna/salmon as you - It's so good! Happy new year, Kelsey. This one is going to be great :) You're off to a great start!! :)

lol at the beans. i don't eat legumes (mess up my digestion) but they are a great source of protein. i'm very curious about the hemp nut butter, let me know what it tastes like. i've had hemp protein powder and hemp milk and dig them so i'm guessing i'd like this too but haven't seen it in stores!

I don't love beans, but I know I should. I just don't know what to make. Maybe you could share some ideas?

Very inspiring... I always sort of "desperately" keep sugar in the house, but then it's the first thing I go for when I'm hungry. Doesn't do much for my health though :)

I love red beans. I could eat them allll day long. Red beans in a stir fry, that's my stuff.

Good luck :)

I am an equal opportunity bean lover...I love them all. Red beans make the best bean burgers and pintos make the best chili (in my opinion). I love the groceries...can't wait to see what you come up with!

Carrie (Carrie on Vegan) said... [reply]

Ohhh, I love Eden Foods too! I am going to be doing a giveaway of their stuff in a few weeks. Your groceries look super healthy, can't wait to see what you make! xoxo

I love Eden Organics!!! Although some of them are bit pricier, they are superior to the other brands.
I really want to try the Hemp Nut Butter!!! I can't find it here in Vancouver...perhaps in Whole Foods?

alex said... [reply]

LOVE beans!!!! Especially black beans....mmmm....I had some black eyed peas (of course!) yesterday!

I especially like just throwing a bunch of veggies, beans, and herbs in a pot to make soup :)

LOL at the "shitload" pun not intended part hahahaha :P

Tatianna said... [reply]

Mmmm.. I love beans ! They all taste relatively the same to me though, so I don't really have a favourite. I eat chick peas and kidney beans the most.

I can't wait to see what you make with your new foods :)

I feel like such a creeper, but I actually love seeing what people buy at the grocery store haha.

I'm a hardcore bean lover! I think my favouite are chickpeas, but I like them all!

I loveeeeeeeee grocery shopping explosions! Just buying all the yummy healthy food!
I'm not the biggest bean person. But I like them here and there! I really like kidney beans!
so are you giving up all sugar or like what...explain lol, bc I am trying to as a challenge as well!

Niiiiice haul! I love grocery store posts! And I love beans with all my heart... and my butt. :)

I am intrigued by your lush selection of organic, natural foods! Living in an isolated area makes me a desperate searcher of such items, as they are not abundant in my area. I am fortunate to have lots of wild fish and venison!

I love beans in vegetarian chili. I also enjoy using broad beans as a paste, something I learned in Southern Italy. Other than that, I don't know what to do with beans!

Kate (What Kate is Cooking) said... [reply]

I used to eat beans every single day, but somehow I stopped! I'm actually planning on having some with my dinner tonight. I'm a black bean lover!

Missy said... [reply]

The unintended pun is still making me giggle.
Love beanns -- mostly chickpeas -- mostly in hummus form so far. I love them in soups -- I made a kicking pumpkin and black bean soup and am planning on making sweet potatoe and black bean burritos from the Clean Food Terri Walters Cookbook.
I also take lots of Beano. No joke.

Loving the accidental pun! I love White beans cooked with diced tomatoes and spinach. It makes a great pasta topper!

Allie @ PickyEatingRD said... [reply]

I am not a huge bean eater but i do like black beans. I also like garbanzo beans but only if they are blended into hummus!

Jess said... [reply]

You hit the grocery JACK-POT!

The Dainty Pig said... [reply]

Love love love Eden brand!!
I love aduki beans. Here in Japan they use them for all sorts of sweet desserts! Blend some up with a bit of stevia and almond milk, and it is delicious :)

Beans, oh my gosh, I've been in love with them since I was a kid. I would eat refried beans straight from the can and when I was older I spent 4 years eating only beans/lentils and broccoli, not exactly because I wanted them, but I truly loved them. Now a days I don't eat a lot of them because of all those years of beans every day, twice a day. But I'm now getting back into the swing of things. My favorite beans are kidney beans, second comes lentils.

Anonymous said... [reply]

Oh and I forgot to mention (but you probably already know this info) that the Eden brand (I lived off their kidney beans for YEARS) is the only brand that doesn't have BPA.

Sara @ Nourish and Flourish said... [reply]

I lovelovelove beans, but I have to be careful with them! One bite too many and my tummy goes topsy turvy! :-p When I was little, my dad used to make bean spread for sandwiches (kind of like hummus, but not nearly as tasty! haha).

Your groceries look like fun...I'm looking forward to seeing what you create with them!

Jenn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) said... [reply]

Look @ all that awesome loot!!

I lurve beans! I really don't have a favorite, I pretty much like them all equally. Well, maybe I like white beans and kidney beans a little more than others. hehe

Anonymous said... [reply]

Im not the biggest bean lover, but I'm trying to convert! so far I have tried black beans, kidney beans and pinto-- they were okay!

Marianne (frenchfriestoflaxseeds) said... [reply]

Beans are on my list of foods to eat more of this coming year. Economical and versatile, I feel like I don't utilize them like I could.

And by sugar, I assume you mean added refined sugar? Because technically there's still sugar in fruits, veggies, yogurt, etc.

Kelsey @ Clean Teen Kelsey said... [reply]

Eek, good luck, Kelsey! You can do it, I know you can. I'm proud of you and it was cool to see all your groceries, haha. <3
