Picking up Pennies for my Piggy Bank

How many times have you seen a penny on the ground but kept
walking right past? Do you ever think to pick it up and put it in your pocket?
Have you questioned if doing so would make any impact in your life?

Since September 2010, I began a quest to pick up any and all loose
change I came across on my path and add it to my Piggy Bank. After
a certain period, I would empty the collection to see how much money I had
found. So, after 5 months, I am ready to crack my piggy bank open

Not only were there pennies, there were nickels, dimes, quarters and loonies!

The Total Amount: $8.14

Okay sure, $8.14 is not a lot of money... and I certainly don't recommend you quit your
day jobs ;) I do however want to show you the value of a single penny; That even
the tiniest of things in life can build up to a greater value and importance

So next time you see a penny on the ground, stop- pick it up-
put it in your pocket- and take that good luck with you. Just be
sure to look up a few times so you don't run into a tree or fire hydrant :)

My boyfriend always picks them up! And he looks so pleased with himself when he finds a coin. If I drop a cent from my purse by accident I leave it on the ground and think of the person who will find it, pick it up and see it as a sign of good luck :-)

It's so funny that you wrote this post b/c I actually found a penny on the ground today! I contemplated picking it up or not. I did!! Woo! I love collecting crazy coins, too! :)

I find change in the vending machine at work at least once a week. It really adds up :)

8.14 is a lot of money for just starting that project in September - I'm impressed!

I so do this!! I've been picking up every penny/nickle/dime/quarter I see on the street since I moved to the States for college (in '04). I've never added it all up before, though. Usually it goes in our "Sonic Money Fund" for summery drinks. :)

I always pick up pennies and give them to my boys for luck. Trust me, we could use all the luck we can get!

Haha Canadian money looks so cool! What do you do with American coins? Very rarely, I will get change back and instead of a penny, I will have a Canadian penny and I get so excited I save them :) haha its the little things that make me happy!

Cute post! $8 is $8 you never had before, right? It'll buy you a ginormous muffin or two I bet :-)

I actually usually don't pick up change (unless, when I was living in Canada, it was a $1 or $2 of course). However occasionally if I see a penny that's heads up I might grab it. :)

I always pick up lose coins! In fact, I have quite a collection myself :)

Heh, I miss Canadian loonies and toonies. You're a lot less likely to find a $1 bill on the ground in the U.S. :)

I always pick up loose change too! I've never found a loonie though!

I love the message of this post - that even the small things are important. I couldn't agree more!
