Rolling with Roti

Roti, Chapati
Ketchup, Catsup...

...however you call it, it's mighty tasty!

I got the idea from Madeline @ Greens and Jeans

Roti Bread topped with light cream cheese, caramelized onions, tomato,
BBQ chicken sausage, mustard and black pepper

But where are the Greens???

Do pickles count?
Snooki (MTV Jersey Shore) would approve

Question: Which bread do you prefer;

Mmmm, roti. I used to LOVE naan, but since becoming vegan I don't eat it anymore. Luckily roti is vegan!!! I don't have it often, unless I am out at an Indian place but it is one of my favs! When I'm home I eat Ezekiel tortillas. Mmmm. I pretty much love anything bready that you can roll delicious things into. :)

mmm... i do like naan, roti, and flatbread, but i think when it comes down it, i love my basic sliced bread!! i like buying unsliced loaves though because i like slicing it myself so that i can have super thick slices!!!

i love how pickles look =)

Ooh, that looks GOOD! Can't go wrong with caramelized onions :-P Makes me want to have wraps again. Out of the breads you named, I'd have to pick naan, but I prefer paratha over naan.

I love Naan the best!!!

Oh my goodness!!!! This is soooo unique and original. I love your blog! How awesome!

I love pickles! And I crave all types of bread. No preference! No discrimination!
Haha.

:)

Best wishes from one blogger to another,

I've never had roti or naan before!... I do love pitas though :) I actually like to get pitas at restaurants more than I like to make them at home, because I am a bit challenged when it comes to wraping them up. I don't know HOW they can do it so well without having it break!

hmm....i don't really eat bread except at breakfast. then it's raisin toast, which probably has no nutritional value whatsoever, but is still darn tasty.

pita bread is my favorite... a warm pita bread with hummus!!! mmmm.....sooo good!

Jessica (Healthy Exposures) said... [reply]

I LOOOOVE whole wheat Naan bread!! I have never had Roti - but it looks very similar? Either way, delicious for sure :)

That looks so good! I am a true flatbread lover of any kind!

Christina said... [reply]

I only had naan once and it was amazing. I need to make it to an actual Indian restaurant one day!

Elaine @ Om Sweet Om said... [reply]

I've never tried roti before, but it looks equally delicious as the others!

I prefer thick slabs of bread - the thicker and chewier, the better!!! :) I like them to be hearty too.. with some kind of nuts/seed crunch to it. Delicious

Simply Life said... [reply]

i think i prefer naan :)

Haha Snooki...I don't really know what you're talking about because I've only seen her in tabloids (can't watch the show...it's too much for me) but I guess she likes pickles.

Your roti looks good. I don't think I've ever actually had one? I've never been a huge bread person. I remember when I was little my grandmother made the best challah bread. I don't know if you know what that is...my grandmother is Jewish and it's this really fluffy traditional Jewish bread...it tasted like cake to me. It was so good, but unfortunately it didn't agree with me. She still makes it though! Now I can only eat gluten free bread, but those don't usually taste so good, so I usually opt out.
Hope you're having a good week love! xoxo

Heather (Where's the Beach) said... [reply]

I think pickles totally count ;-) I typically use tortillas for wraps, but really love flatbreads or a good pita. I have to add good b/c a bad one is just not worth it.

Anonymous said... [reply]

I like all kinds of bread and I could eat 3-4 of these amazing roti sandwich you made!

Christina said... [reply]

you're so cute! LOVE PICKLES! mmm i like wraps or those lavash wrap thingies hehe

Anonymous said... [reply]

I love naan. I've never made it from scratch, but you can buy this wonderful packaged kind around where we live, or I'll get some when we eat Indian. But pretty much any kind of bread works for me. (Not the sausage though.) :)

Anonymous said... [reply]

Having never had naan or roti, I am going to have to abstain from answering that question. ;)

Out of the breads you listed I like tortillas the most. But what I really love is crusty, artisan breads. The kinds that almost tear your mouth apart because they are so crusty and delicious.

Oh I love them all...but I'm on a tortilla fix right now. I want to eat them all the time. I have to stop myself after four!

Katie @ Health for the Whole Self said... [reply]

Wow, I love them all!!! But I'm particularly dedicated to pita bread. :)

Crystal said... [reply]

I haven't had ketchup in FOREVER! When I was younger, I would eat it with everything. Now I kind of want to mix some with my egg whites this morning. :)

I am a pita fan myself. I like to put pita bread in the toaster oven until it is super crispy and tastes like pita chips.

Mini cucumbers can be such an amazing snack! Nothing beats cutting them in half, sparkling a bit of salt and pepper on them. nom nom nom.

I really like naan, especially the kind made out of cocunut, but I seldom have it.

Krista said... [reply]

I like naan and pitas! Your food looks fabulpous, hun!

Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter said... [reply]

I think flatbreads or roti are my favorite, but I'm a fan of pretty much all carbs :)

Aimee said... [reply]

Aw I'm excited to see you eating Roti :]. Roti with butter is something that I've eaten atleast 3-4 times a week growing up, so Naan is my fav because I don't get to have it as often. We usually eat Naan at nice Indian restaurants or at family parties. Would you be into trying out some of my mom's recipes? because I can totally get a few to you or post them on the blog

Karin said... [reply]

Oh roti is fabulous but I am a naan girl myself. Garlic naan is the love of my life (shhh don't tell my boyfriend! haha)

Chelsea said... [reply]

I'm a pita girl! But I've actually never had roti or naan. Gotta try those!

Madeline - Greens and Jeans said... [reply]

Thanks for the shout! Adding pickles? Pure genius.

Jen said... [reply]

YUM!!! sausage, onions and mustard are PERFECT together!!!!!!!!!!!!! and pickles are amazing! I tend to eat them after lunch and dinner and whenever else I happen to feel like it! =D

Anonymous said... [reply]

I'm a naan girl myself. And flour tortillas. :) But naan is my fave!

eden said... [reply]

O, thats a tough one. I do love Naan, but I mean, if I'm having falafel, I NEED a pita! and mexican food is not mexican food without a tortilla! I guess it depends on the cuisine at hand (or at mouth?)

Anonymous said... [reply]

YUM!! Roti is sooo good!! So is naan bread. I couldnt pick a favorite.

Light Delight with Tou Tou said... [reply]

Hey Sweetie- thanks for stopping by - twice! i am so slow in updating my blog due to all the summer travels. But will catch up!

The sausage , M'mmmm, how can a sausage go wrong?! I love that wrap, no greens today, please!

Ellen@FirednFabulous said... [reply]

Whoa, this looks TASTY! Sausage in any form is always a good thing.

eatmovelove said... [reply]

Never had Roti! Looks like a Pita? Gosh - Naan is soooo good - buttery and tears apart so soft and mops up spaghetti sauce really good :)...

Lauren @ Health on the Run said... [reply]

So hard to choose -- I pretty much love all bread. :) If I had to pick, I'd probably say naan or flatbread. I've never had Roti though, but it looks delicious. I'm going to have to look for it now.

Laury@The Fitness Dish said... [reply]

Snooki DOES love her pickles :-)

Hmmm...I am a sucker for pita...but I love flat bread too! Oh, and tortilla....hey, that's a tough question!!!! LOL Never had roti, never even heard of it...is that bad??

Jess said... [reply]

I have to say either naan of pita!! Looks delicious.

Tortillas because it most often means Mexi! And can't say no to Mexi ;)

La Tortilla Factory makes GF tortillas I think too ;)

Anonymous said... [reply]

Love roti and naan but my favourites are tortillas!

Joanne said... [reply]

Pickles always count. I love pickles.

I also love roti. And this wrap. Delicious.

hbobier said... [reply]

Are you really asking me to choose between all those carb-a-licious options? I love each of them for their own reason.

It's like asking a mom to pick her favorite kid. She loves them all equally but for different reasons.. :)

Emily said... [reply]

I love tortillas. I eat them pretty much every day. But I also love Indian food and naan is my fave part of the meal. :-)

Danielle (Runs on Green) said... [reply]

I've actually never had roti (and I love Indian food)! I loveee soft flat breads so I'd have to say my favorite is Naan. And pickles count as greens in my head!
