Smart Pop!

The Stanley Cup Finals are on, and everyone knows
nothing goes better with hockey than beer popcorn!

Orville Redenbacher's Smart Pop! Buttery Flavour Popcorn

I haven't made microwaved popcorn in ages

And I was curious to see what Smart Pop! would taste like...

After 2.5 minutes of joyous popping noises, the popcorn was ready

It has such a nostalgic light buttery smell... so far so good :)

I also liked how almost all of the corn kernels popped so
you aren't left with a bunch of seeds at the bottom of the bag

Time to pour it into a big bowl...

You get a hell of a lot of popcorn from one bag!

Most importantly, how did it taste? Well I only have one issue:
TOO MUCH SALT! The sodium was so overpowering that all that yummy buttery
flavour becomes under appreciated... my mouth was burning after a few handfuls

Maybe i'm more sensitive to salt, but i'm curious if anyone else has tried this
brand and had a similar complaint. Nothing beats stove-top popcorn, me thinks :)

I started eating a lot of microwave popcorn (despite the toxic bags I keep hearing about) because the other people in my office eat it, and once they make it it smells so good I want some too! I like the kettle corn though. I never really eat it at home though!

I have an air popper that I couldn't live without! I haven't bought the microwave stuff in years, but I was once obsessed with the kettle corn kind...

I love all popcorn - microwave, movie theatre, homemade ...

I'm also completely partial to good homemade popcorn, especially with a little nutritional yeast and coconut oil on top.

I'm a plain Jane air popped kind of girl. I love it!

I'm sensitive to salt too! They really do put wayyyy too much sodium in microwave popcorn, I think the general population's tastebuds are desensitized to it, no me gusta.

I love popcorn -- but I agree with you that most of that stuff is too salty! I like plain popcorn -- but I really like kettle corn most of all. That stuff is the best!

ah, I've never been a big fan of popcorn, but I love the popping sound! And I'm really sensitive to salt, too!
Oooh, you're now on my blogroll, too (:

I haven't tried that brand of popcorn, but I react sensitive to salt - gives me bloating, water retentions, and makes my tummy hurt. So better low on the sodium!

I have not had popcorn in FOREVER. I still need to jump on the nutritional yeast popcorn soon... ;)

I'd probably eat it even if it was a salt lick. I like super salty thangs. It's bad

I usually think microwave popcorn is alright, but I find Smart Pop to be rather nasty, and the "healthy" benefits aren't even worth it when you compare it to the normal microwave popcorn and find hardly any difference nutrition-wise.
Personally, I can't even stand microwave popcorn anymore; stovetop (homemade- with the kernels and popping pot) is FAR superior.

I love stove topped popcorn. It's the only kind of popcorn that my daughter will eat now.
