Breaking Open the Piggy Bank

Back in February I posted about my "Picking Up
Pennies" initiative; Click here to refresh your memory

Long story short, since September of 2010, I have been collecting any and
all loose change I find on the ground, and adding it to my Pink Pig Piggy Bank

Since it's been almost 7 months since the last money
count, I felt it would be a good time for another one today

Dumping out all my loose change

A little pot of gold perhaps :)

I separated the money into piles: Toonies,
Loonies, Quarters, Dimes, Nickels and Pennies

Pennies with Maple Leafs

Nickels with Beavers

Dimes with Sailboat (The Bluenose)

Quarters with Elk/Moose/Caribou

Loonies with Loon

And Toonies Toonie with Polar Bear

Wait... this isn't a Canadian coin!

An Australian 5-Cent coin... how did that get in here?

Today's Grand Total: $17.49
Last time we did the count the total was $8.14

The quarters have CARIBOU! Moose and elk look much different :)

Canadian money is so much prettier than money here! And that that Australian nickel is adorable... I never thought I'd call a coin "adorable".

Seconding @Red Deception re: Caribou. They are definitely caribou. :)

I miss Canadian money. Using dollar bills is so annoying! LOL

My sister and I have always done that. I always end up using my credit card these days though (gotta build that credit!) so I don't build up my change nearly enough.

The best I ever did was 27 dollars in change when I was 9:)

Haha I need to do that at some point, I have so much random change lurking around the house!

You are too cute sometimes.

I have a bottle where I keep dimes and a bottle where I keep pennies. Why only those two? because the openings of each of the bottles is only big enough to put dimes and pennies in. HA! Now I wonder how much I have saved up...

Like Sarah said, I too have so many random coins in so many random places... and I'm sure they all add up to quite a bit! Thanks for the inspiration. :-) I have been worrying about money lately so it is nice to think of some easy ways to acquire a few extra bucks!
