Buying in Bulk

It was so ugly/cold/rainy/depressing this morning. Victoria
weather is too unstable. Hot-cold-hot-cold; kind of like most guys,
right ladies? haha I kid, I kid! I'm in a joking mood today okay..

My plans for a super smoothie went out the window,
so I took some fruit and made a warm fruit salad instead

Sliced Bananas

Topped with sliced Apples

1 heaping Tbsp of Roasted Carob Powder

Dusted with Cinnamon

Roasted Carob Powder and Original Unsweetened Almond Breeze Almond Milk

I took 1 cup of Almond Milk and 3/4 cup of Frozen Cranberries and let it steam in a
pot. In a bowl I chopped up a banana and an apple (that's all I had available). I scooped
2 Tbsp of roasted carob powder on top before adding in the Steamed Almond Milk

Actually I find it weird how adding warm milk to fruit really fills me up; dry fruit
salad only leaves me hungrier! Anyone else experience something like that?

Taking pictures of what I eat has really shown me how much I automate my
meals! I love trying new things but haven't been true to that, and even for
myself, the same food over and over is getting loathsome. So with reusable
grocery bags in hand, I took off to the store to add some friends to my fridge :)

Of course, I had to take a trip to the bank first.
Health food stores are like crack to me!

I stopped by the deli at Planet Organic to pick up some lunch. As I may have
mentioned, i'm not a fan of seafood! But I think it's because no one in my
family knows how to properly make it. It ends up tasting fishy and rubbery,
eww gross! But I crave fish really bad!! See the dilemma?

So when I saw this Tuna Salad I had to
get some. I'm so glad I did. DELICIOUS!

And not so delicious! lol. I usually order the Emerald Kale Salad which is so good!
But they had this one too: 'Hail Fail to the Kale'. It was like my mouth took a swim
in a polluted ocean... lol. So I gave it to my mom and she liked it! Ummmm? haha

The bad taste lingered in my mouth for awhile and I needed to wash it down with
something. I guess this is when having a Starbucks on every corner comes in handy?

Starbucks Venti Caffe Americano please!

I usually avoid Starbucks at all cost. Too much caffeine and brewed way too
strong. But I had good memories of the Americano and wanted to relive
them today :P Hmm I wonder why don't we call them Canadianos here?

When I got home I unpacked the groceries...

Canned Pumpkin, Eden Beans, Amy's Refried Beans, Frozen Blueberries and
Raspberries, Mustard, Brown Rice Tortillas, Almond Breeze, Shape Magazine, Salsa,
Raw Hemp Butter, Francine's Finest Protein Bars, Chakra Bar, Spinach Hummus,
Bulk Raw Walnuts, Bulk Goji Berries, Bulk Prunes, Bulk Dates and Bulk Bee Pollen

This time it's Orange and Purple Sweet Potatoes/Yams for dinner :)

I realized how important the Bulk Aisle becomes to health nuts. Not all places,
but most, offer better deals when buying bulk. Even brand names can be bought in
bulk which is new to me! I couldn't believe I saved 2 dollars buying the same brand of
dates as the packaged variety. All that money adds up, especially when you're a student

Question: Do you shop in the Bulk Food
Aisle at your health food/grocery store?

What an interesting breakfast idea- I will have to try that! Warm fruit salad- yum! Bummer the kale salad was a fail...it looked like it had so much potential. Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Health foods are my crack too and every time I see one I need to go in. I'm just grateful that I have understanding friends and family who get dragged inside too. ;)

I don't buy bulk at my health food store because the closest one to me is 30 minutes away. My favorite one is an hour. Boo.

Are you sure you're kidding about guys being hot-cold? Ha ha... I find much truth in that. :P

I think I'm one of the few people who doesn't frequent Starbucks. I'm more of a Dunkin' Donuts kind of gal... (oh the horror!!!!)

The weather in Vancouver is yucky too :( too much rain for me. I LOVE shopping in bulk! I find it so much cheaper and much more convenient if you only need a little bit of something and don't want to pay full price for a big box. I generally buy sugar in bulk for hen I bake, since I don't use it on any other occasion I only need a little. So no need to buy a big bag, I just buy what I need for the recipe.

I'm addicted to Starbucks..and coffee :(

Does Victoria have Whole Foods?

Ahh Planet Organic is like my all time favorite store :) I shop there all the time.

Can't buy in bulk though. I have some allergies and accidental cross-contamination could cost me.

Hahahaha love your joke about guys, it's true though, well most. Not my Husband, haha.

I love shopping in the bulk section, I like that I can get exactly how much I want/need.

I totally know what you mean with the warm fruits. I don't know why! If you find out let me know.. I bet it's interesting :) I don't really buy things in bulk. Surprisingly, for me, the bulk bins don't have better deals

I totally use the bulk bins, they are awesome and so much cheaper!!! How come more people don't use them? I have no idea.

I can't shop the bulk bins... but I don't think I would, even if I could. I'm just weird like that.

my mom likes the grossest food also. If I do not like it I pass it on to her and it never gets wasted!!

Your fruit looks fabulous and so warming. I would love to wake up to that for breakfast!
You are too cute- Canadianos haha
I definitely make use out of the bulk bins...I end up spending less money. Or at least I hope I do. Maybe I only spend less because I take less than what would be in a huge ready-to-go package...I'm not too sure.
Hope you're having an amazing Sunday!
