11.2 Miles

It was really interesting reading everyone's comments on bake sale cleanliness. I agree 100% that it isn't something that is a big concern. And even if it is, we usually ignore it and support the cause. I think we would all drive ourselves bonkers if we became obsessed with sanitation; our immune systems require a good dose of bugs to build up resistance anyways. So unless you have a horrible nut or other food allergy, bake sales are generally safe and completely delicious!

This morning I made a quick n' hot fruit salad before heading out for a run...

Bananas, red delicious apples, blueberries, almond milk, and cinnamon

I was hoping to get a full 20 km in but it started to rain; I cut it
a bit short and completed a solid 18km in good time. After my run
I had the other half of yesterday's organicfair heart of gold chocolate bar :)

I find dark chocolate to be the perfect snack after a long run!

So usually this is when I come home and call it a day; hibernating into a long
slumber... except I had to run some errands... so after a quick shower, out I went

Stopped in at Planet Organic Market first
to get something for lunch: Wild Salmon Salad

Just as good as the tuna salad I had. Very yummy and nutritious

Steamed greens with arame seaweed and sesame seeds.
Gotta get them greens in! (If you've never tried arame, I highly
recommend you do. It tastes really mild and is so easy to prepare)

Of course I had to get another coffee from Dolce Vita. Unfortunately
they only have two chains, both being on the island. they're looking to
franchise though which is awesome. They made the switch to 100% organic
coffee, and I just noticed they sell wheat-free, sugar-free, and dairy-free muffins!

Everyone needs a treat after a successful Sunday...

Chocolate chip espresso muffin <3 ... you know it's good when
you can't wait five seconds to take a picture before digging in haha

I was pretty stuffed by dinner time, but I had a case of the
"hmm but I was something... I think?" so I made a little organic
turkey and sprout sandwich with some Earth Balance soy butter

Alrighty loves, I'm too tired to comment on your lovely posts tonight
so I'll have lot's to look forward too in the morning. I actually think
i'm part of a rare group of people that LOVES commenting on blogs!!!

Now i'm off to find a poor soul I can
beg a massage from. Any takers? hehe :)

I enjoy commenting on blogs as well, but I definitely agree to the fact that we seem to be a rare breed. Commenting does take a long time though, so I can understand why some people might have an aversion to it.

And can I just say that I'm so jealous that you basically seem to live in Planet Organic? There's two in my city, but the closer one is still about a 15 minute drive. I still end up going a few times a week though. PO is my love <3

I love reading everyone's posts and commenting, but because I love it so much, my google reader is crazy huge. So it can get a little overwhelming at times... ;)

I'm actually quite jealous of the turkey sandwich- it's been awhile since I've had just that!

Have a good week ahead Dana!

Much love,

I love long run Sundays, too! Yesterday I met up with a group and planned to go 8 miles but ended up running 12 - I was so happy! I'm finding that running with others makes the time fly by.

And now I totally need a muffin. :)

I love people like you! I adore commenting on people's blogs. Part of it is that I know how excited I get when someone takes the time to write something thoughtful. I agree with your take on sanitation. I don't give it a second thought. Bake sales are awesome and a great way to eat an awesome treat while helping someone out. A few extra germs will not harm you!

yummmm i adore salmon... cannot believe you ran that far you crazy crazy woman haha sike. i have had arame before, its the seaweed right? yum... expands a lot lol.

about the sanitation... i believe you need to roll around in the dirt every now and then, no joke, and if you grow your own veggies or have a reliable source i would not clean them. good/bad bacteria and GI health is so so crucial to immune health. you need the bugs!!!

I love commenting too! It's great to hear so many different opinions!

Yes, coconut milk in oats makes for very creamy oats- too good! And a tiny bit of it goes a long way. You should try it if youre a coconut fan!

I'm envious of your long runs. Sometimes I just want to run for miles and miles and forget about life for a while- literally run away from it all. My damaged body + the city pavement is a bad combo though. I want to come to Victoria and escape in the nature! It would be so beautiful and amazing.
Are you training for a race or do you just like to do long runs on the weekends?

I love your heated fruit salads! They look so good.
Love always xoxox <3

Hi lady,

I try to comment as much as possible but some days are more busy than others and I don't get around to it...but it is always nothing personal, I am still reading!

day 2 gluten free is going great so far. I will be blogging about it soon! Dolce vita definitely sounds amazing...and earth balance (LOVE!).

Jessica said... [reply]

Wow, kudos on that long run! I wish I could run that long! Holy moly. Did you eat anything durng the run? (do you have any recipes for homemade energy bars or gel?)

Lisa (I'm an Okie) said... [reply]

I'm pretty bad when it comes to germs and sanitations--I usually don't give it two thoughts. I guess because I don't often get sick so I figure I must be doin somethin ok. Gee, I better knock on wood huh?

Hot fruit salad is what I call a fruit cereal :P and 11.2 miles? OMG! The most I run is 8.7! How much time does it take you?
I was reading your last post about the bake sale, and I remembered when I was in high school and they made a
"bake sale" all along the hallway! They didn't sell anything, you gave a donation when you entered the hallway door and you could stuff your plate with everything you wanted. You could come in twice if you gave another donation! People used to go very overboard and some guys ended up throwing up in the basktball court. Gross. How I miss high school though xD
Oh and by the way, your "beanwich" is what we call "moyete" over here ! yummy!
Have a nice monday!
Lola

bake sale question reminds me of my bulk bins post. it's the same concept. do not read this while eating :)

http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/2010/03/highlights-of-week-bulk-bin-hazards.html

love the muffin and the coffe in the last post, i too feel SBux is WAY overrated and prefer just about any other coffee besides theirs!
