What Time is it at the Dentist? ...Tooth Hurty

Short post today... not feeling too chipper...

Lately i've been looking like this guy! Swollen cheeks and all... My dentist appointment didn't go very well! Turns out my wisdom teeth are impacted and exposed... the dentist told me the swelling is indicative of possible bacteria infection and that I need to get them removed right away!

So when I go to the secretary to book an appointment for extraction, she says I can get them out June 15th... not bad I thought... but then I get a phone call saying that i'm actually going to have to wait until the end of August!

No way am I spending my summer like this! Are they retarded? Who tells a patient that my wisdom teeth need to come out right away, yet expect me to wait until the end of August for an appointment! I was so angry, rightfully so! Thankfully my Dad offered to take me to see his dentist tomorrow... turns out his dentist is actually a surgical doctor and one of the best on the island. If he takes me, then I'll be able to get them out sooner.

Seesh... now I understand why people avoid dentists...

In the meantime I've been drinking lots of warming teas...

And channeling my inner child self-soothing
with sheepish hot water packs for my cheeks

Plus, succumbing to last resorts to get some sleep at night

Tylenol #3 with Codeine... wish it didn't have to come to this!

Oh, and i've been and living off peanut butter and jam bread

Instead of leaving on a sad note, I will say the only upside is having more time to watch some movies. I recently watched Couple's Retreat but wouldn't recommend that one to anyone... to be honest, the acting was horrible... sorry if anyone liked it tho. I also saw Youth in Revolt and loved it!

Question: Any suggestions for movies I should watch?

Ugh I am so sorry about your wisdom teeth! I hope you are able to have them taken out sooner from your dads dentist! And hey, tylenol with codeine... enjoy it since you have to take it anyways!

Good movies.... I thought the Invention of Lying was pretty funny. Check out this website for some laughs: www.dontevenreply.com :)

Oh no girlie! I hope you figure it out tomorrow! tea and toast is perfect when sicky...movies too!

Hmm, movies...I can't think right now...but Almost Famous is always a favorite...

Whatever you do make sure you eat a big meal before you hit the dentist tomorrow so that a. you aren't starving the rest of the day in case you can't chew properly (like I was) and b. so that you don't get sick from all the medicine they may give you (like I was).

Hope that tomorrow goes smoothly! Sorry you are in so much pain. :(

You've been looking as cute as that guy? That's not so bad!

I'm so sorry you're hurting, hun, and I hope that going to see your dad's dentist tomorrow proves to be a saving grace... I can't imagine having to put up with tooth pain for that long.

I'm a big sucker for watching Disney movies when I'm feeling less than chipper, especially because I'm rather behind on all the new releases.

Feel better soon <3

Ahhh sorry about your teeth :( I really can't stand the dentist. I don't like people poking around in my mouth lol. I hope the procedure goes well and you make a speedy recovery!

I haven't seen many movies lately...but I'd go with a comedy :D

Youth in Revolt, huh? *Takes note*
I hated Couples Retreat too. And if you haven't seen Valentines Day... DON'T!

Feel better!!

Oh yes, I would definitely be going to a different dentist. That's just nuts! Hope you feel better soon girl. That's no fun.

Hey! I just went through the same thing with my wisdom teeth! I did not listen to the dentist, instead I bought some hydrogen peroxide from the pharmacy and gargled with that three times a day. It kills/flushes out bad bacteria and will lessen the pain (that plus ibuprofen). My infection was gone within 3 days, and now all is good.

Alex @ IEatAsphalt said... [reply]

Yuck! Wisdom teeth are not fun. I had all four of mine pulled at the same time. I didn't think that the recovery was too bad, just have to take lots of tiny bites. Hope you feel better soon!!

AHHH! Sorry to hear about your tooth hurty. My Mom, who has a tendency to see the dentist more often than she should, tells me ALL about the pains of toothy chagrins. And I can tell it ain't purdy. :(

On the bright side, I love your sheepish warmer. It's AWESOME! As you know Kelsey, I love channeling my inner child too. In fact, that's pretty much all I do. My goal in life is to revert back to child-dom. Well, at heart, at least. :D

As for movies... I suggest switching it up. Sad ones, comic ones, dramatic ones, romantic ones -- you know. Mix it up a little to keep entertained. I can't say I'm a big movie buff, but I watch a lot of cartoons (again, the inner child). If I were in your shoes, I'd probably be watching Arthur or something. :D

P.S. I love that you're taking your jam-on-bread pictoor in your jammies. Jam in jammies. GET IT?!?1 Of course you did it on purpose. Right? <3

That's rediculous to make you wait til August! Hope your Dad's dentist lets you in!

Seriously, once you get them out, a couple days of discomfort and then you'll feel great!

Hugs!

Samantha @ Food Edu said... [reply]

OMG, I cannot believe they would wait until August to take your teeth out if you have a baceterial infection. That sounds really dangerous! I love lazy days of movie watching-I am going to plan one next week after school gets out =)

Anonymous said... [reply]

Yay for your dad's dentist possibly getting you in sooner!! That would be super ridiculous if you had to wait till August!!!

I hope you feel better soon and get those darn teeth out soon!! In the meantime keep eating PB&J and drinking cozy tea with your sheep xo

Megan D said... [reply]

Sorry to hear about your wisdom teeth! I know it was fairly traumatic when I got mine out but it will be all better before you know it. I love your sheep water bottle thing! And living off pb&j doesn't sound too bad to me. =P
What kind of movie are you looking to watch? I recently watched "The Squid and the Whale" and really liked it, but it was slightly dark and not a very feel-good movie, which is probably what you'd rather see!

Amy B @ Second City Randomness said... [reply]

Oh I know what you mean! I hate that when they say "this is serious... how about six months from now?" I hope this next dentist visit goes better.

And I agree about Couples Retreat- I was horribly disappointed. But Youth in Revolt was fantastic! I love Michael Cera. He's another nerd crush of mine. ;)

That hot water bottle cozy is so cute! My college roommates used to makes o much fun of me for sleeping with one when it was cold, but they're the best!

Have you seen "Funny People"? It's really good! I'd suggest watching dramas, though... I went to see "Little Miss Sunshine" after I got my first set of wisdom teeth out and almost ripped my stitches out from laughing.

Anonymous said... [reply]

Aww I'm sorry about all the dentist drama... I hope you can get them out ASAP!

i have a ton of movie suggestions - what genres do you like?

if it's an indie romantic comedy, i highly recommend my movie "saving face" :)

eeek - hope you are able to get an appt soon. when i got my impacted wisdom teeth surgically removed it was kinda fun - i watched so many movies, ate pudding and ice cream, and didn't move from the couch for 3 days. i don't recommend spike lee movies (which i watched) b/c they were trippy.

Christina said... [reply]

Wow, no way I'd be able to wait til August in that pain! I hope your Dad's dentist can take you!

I thought Couple's Retreat had its funny moments. Maybe because I'm obsessed with vacations. There was definitely something off about it though. How about watching a whole marathon of movies that have sequels - like the National Treasures or Pirates. If it were me I'd probably just watch Friends reruns!

Katie ♥ said... [reply]

Im sorry your in so much pain love and I hope your dads dentist can get you in asap! Makes me mad the other one wanted you to wait til AUGUST?!! How about they feel the pain you are going through and see if they can take it! Mean!

Well at least you are relaxing and enjoying the fine things in life : ) PB & J baby!!!

As for movies hmmmmmmmmmmmmm well I liked New Moon, Avatar, The Hangover is funny, and THe Blind Side is good!

Feel better! xoxo

Anonymous said... [reply]

oh no! feel better... I remember being in that situation. I ate lots of rice pudding :D

Movies...hmm... Patch Adams, Save The Last Dance and 50 First Dates are my favourites!

Hey Girlie!
awww I am soooo sorry to hear about the tooth pains! eeek! I am sending feel better vibes your way! I hope that you can get those babies out ASAP! LOVE PB & JAM!!!

The picture of the squirrel is adorable. Just saying.

Hopefully you'll be able to get those suckers out of there sooner...I can't imagine having to wait a whole summer.

When I was bed-ridden in the days after my wisdom teeth were pulled I just marathoned House for a good 48 hours. I bought Seasons 1-4 in advance because I knew I'd be miserable. And there's nothing more comforting than knowing at least Dr. House is more miserable than you are.

Hopefully you're feeling better! Get some sleep!

Ugh, wisdom teeth suck! I hope you can get an appointment and feel better soon!

As for movies, I love classics, especially Audrey Hepburn- Breakfast at Tiffany's, etc. and French films from the 60's like Band of Outsiders.

Also, TV seasons are a great way to pass the time when you're feeling lousy.

Get better!!!!

Mandiee said... [reply]

Aww, I'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well! The idea of getting your wisdom teeth pulled is not exactly an exciting one, but waiting makes it even worse. However, it's great that you get some time to relax. I hope all goes well!

Have a lovely day!

So sorry girl! That is so wrong of your dentist, I say get a new one ASAP so I really hope you get in with your dad's. I have been avoiding going to a much overdue dental cleaning and check because I always have a bad experince :-(

That's horrible!!! Hope you get those teeth out soon! And at least you will have a good dentist to pull them out! Make sure they give you lots of laughing gas. I almost fell asleep when they gave the stuff to me.

Rest easy!

Your blog is SO cute!

I'm sorry about your teeth! :( I hope they feel better soon. I only had one wisdom tooth grow in, but even after having it removed the area still hurts 18 years later! Ugh.

Not a movie, but we just started Breaking Bad on DVD.

I would agree that the end of August is an unreasonable time to make someone who is in pain wait. Dentists must live on their own planet!

Hi Kelsey! I hope you are feeling better :)
damn, i think it's wheat too! i've beenr eading about the symptomps, aside from the bloating, and i could definetely relate! I'll try to go wheat free this week to see how i feel. It's very hard because my family buys a lot of wheat products but i'll do my best :)
have a nice weekend!

I just watched Leap Year a few nights ago and it was really cute!

Oh pumpkin I'm so sorry. I hope your dad's dentist can do better. Mine were swollen too from an infection and they had them out within two days. :( Wish I could just take you to mine.

She-Fit said... [reply]

OMG! I'm so sorry. I will be praying that it all works out with your dad's dentist. . . if it doesn't I would encourage you to search somewhere else. This happened to my husband and he found a place that took him immediately.
