Alter Eco

Chelsea at One Healthy Munchkin has been inspiring me like crazy with her
breakfast parfaits. In an attempt to make her proud, I served up one for myself

Sliced Bananas, Blueberries, Plain Yogurt, and
Cinnamon, topped with Nature's Path FlaxPlus Granola

After enjoying breakfast, I opened up a book to get some reading
done. It just occured to me that I used to HATE reading! Now I find
there's nothing like laying out in the sun and enjoying a good book!

Lunchtime Chicken Stir-fry with Garbanzo Beans

The best part of a muffin, as you know, is the top! So I snacked
on a Raisin Bran Muffin while catching up on some blog reading :)

I continued my snacking with Crackers with Spinach Hummus
...as if Mary's needed to put "Tastes Great!" on the box...

I thought I would change things up a tad... I'd like to take you
on a mini tour of my favorite health food store, Lifestyle Markets!

Mmm Carob Energy Balls and Sesame Energy Balls! They
have the best treats; muffins, buns, cookies, squares, rolls,
bars, loaves, cupcakes, macaroons, chocolate, tarts, pies, etc.

Top Left Counterclockwise: Cookies, Rheinland Bakery Gluten Free
Pumpkin and Banana Muffins, Bubby Rose's Banana Rice Bread, Wildfire
Bakery Pumpkin Seed Anise Cookie, Single-Serving Carrot Cake with Frosting,
Bubby Rose's Lemon Pound Loaf, Cascadia Bakery Chocolate Macaroon,
and Cascadia Bakery Belgian Chocolate and Vegan Chocolate Brownies

Vegan Brownie or Belgian Brownie or both?

Cascadia Bakery Blueberry Danish Bars,
Apple Danish Bars, and Raspberry Oat Squares

Cascadia Espresso Chocolate Chip Muffins and Apricot Oat Muffins

And also from Cascadia, Pumpkin Millet Muffins,
Vegan Bran Muffins, and Blueberry Wheatgerm Muffins

Large display of Natural, Organic, Local, and/or Fair Trade Chocolate Bars

Every variety and flavour imaginable :)

I'm intrigued with the concept of chocolate and quinoa crisps
...Hehe it's called Midnight Crunch by Alter Eco, very clever!

Lifestyle Markets on Urbanspoon

Thank you for the well wishes on my neck pain. Luckily after some resting
and massaging i'm pretty much back to my chipper self. The moral of  this
post is that any ailment can be healed with chocolate! Don't believe me? Try it :)

Question: If you were allowed to choose anything
from the health store pictures, what would you grab?

I love reading...I always have. I was the nerdy 3 year old who would rather read a book than play with toys. I love getting lost in a really good one.

I used to love that granola. I think it's definitely one of the best tasting ones out there. I haven't had it in so long. And Mary's crackers are so good.

The chocolate quinoa bar sounds really good to me...I can't actually see the inside, but I love when things are crunchy and I love chocolate, so what could be bad about that combination?

I can't tell if any of the gluten-free muffins you eat are pictured but I would LOVE to try one of those! Otherwise the dark chocolate quinoa bar sounds pretty flippin amazing to me too! You are lucky to have all that great stuff at your fingertips!

I'd love to try that quinoa dark chocolate!! I love quinoa, I love dark chocolate, it must be good!

I used to hate reading too, with a passion. I started reading books 2 summers ago and since then I haven't been able to stop. I've read over 20 in about two years! When I read for school it was more like a chore. Now it's more a hobby :)

I love parfaits but... I don't like the fact that the spoon gets dirty and then also my fingers get sticky and I hate this....oh my God I m totally not a normal person :)

My favourite dessert was the cascadia brownie.

I m so glad that you spend your time reading. Books travel us in different worlds and the feeling is amazing!

The only thing better than enjoying a good book out in the sun is browsing the aisles of your favorite health food store. I'd definitely be all over those Espresso Chocolate Chip Muffins. Pairing coffee with chocolate can do no wrong in my eyes.

Glad your neck is feeling better :)

I'm totally coming to visit! Love the looks of that store...

That bar in the last picture would definitely pique my interest...but I think I'd choose the espresso muffin! Yum!

Reading is the best. I was a Literature major, and it was so nice to have an excuse to sit and read for hours. Now, I can't say "I have homework!" anymore. I need to go back to school!

For some reason your posts aren't showing up on my dashboard, so I keep on missing them! :(

Aw, thanks for the shout out girl! You totally out did me with that parfait. It looks fabulous!!

That health food store looks like it's full of good treats! I would probably go for that pumpkin millet muffin.

OH MY GOSH! That parfait looks awesome :D What a great way to start the day.

I love the baked goods you feature in your posts! Yum yum yum. And the chocolate carousel is awesome. I am in dire need of chocolate and I keep seeing signs from the higher powers that I need to get on that ASAP. Atleast I've got a jar of Cacao Bliss, Chocolate Hazelnut Butter, and Chocolate Almond Butter to tide me over in the mean time lol.

Only one?? Oh my gosh lol. I can't read all of the signs, but out of the ones I can read.. I would choose the pumpkin millet muffin. Yum :D

XOXO I'm glad you're feeling better my love!

Oh my God - I'd want it alllll :) Hmmm...probably one of those muffins in the display case...I'm such a sucker for going into bakeries and getting something ultra-rich and carby...and definitely not health-food ;)...oops.

Do come back! I'd appreciate any opinions on my current job situation...

Muffins tops definitely are the best part! I've been searching for a muffin top pan just so they're there whenever I want! haha and I'd snag a cookie, a macaroon, a brownie, and a muffin from that health food store. Probably a couple of each..cause after all, if they come from a health food store, they must be good for you ;)
