No Go Yogurt

It turns out that most of you agree that Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies are your favorite! I have to agree, and I think it's because they're one of the more hearty and comforting, with lot's of chew and texture. I like them with raisins too!

I finally hopped on this 'Greek Yogurt Bandwagon' and made myself a promising cinnamon berry parfait bowl.

I was really surprised how thick the yogurt was especially since it was 0%! It kept its shape without turning liquidy like baby food.

Okay I won't lie, I'm not sold on the taste of Greek Yogurt! I don't know why, but it has a bit of a box/playdoh taste... maybe that's just my mouth, i dunno. Am I the only one that prefers non-greek organic yogurt instead?

Later on I made a typical stir-fry for lunch...

Basically a chicken stir-fry with chickpeas, broccoli, green beans, red onion, and mustard

Before dinner I made sure to get my hands in the cookie jar...

Well hello again peanut butter cookie of deliciousness! Remember my tummy? ... I think you've met before :)

Remember my big ol' fruit salad with greens a little while back? Well here's a carbon copy but this time with grilled chicken on top!!! Tempeh would've been even more marvelous and refreshing ;)

Now i'm off to hot yoga my loves. It's been two weeks since I have gone to my usual night class... my excuse? Laziness.

I'll leave you with more woodland creature photos via my backyard.

Guess I won't be needing my lawn mower anytime soon :)

Question 1: What was the most recent food item or product you purchased from the store?

Question 2: Do you have any quirky grocery store habits that others find strange or stare at you for?

I wasn't sold on the taste of Greek yogurt when I first tried it, either... but the more I had it, the more it grew on me and now it's become my favorite. I love how thick and creamy it is, but I still crave regular yogurt on occasion as well.

The most recent thing I purchased from the store? Hmm... buckwheat flour lol. I made pancakes this afternoon anad they were deeelish.

Don't worry - I wasn't 100% sold on greek yogurt at first - and still don't love plain greek yogurt by itself, but I think it's great mixed with fruit or a bit of jam or something :) I love how thick it is, though - I hate having normal yogurt now because I find it too runny and not tangy enough!
That fruit salad looks to die for - I love the idea of adding kiwi!! And great backyard pics - I thought deer came close to our house, but it looks like nothing compared to you :)
And I jsut went grocery shopping so a boatload of fresh fruits, produce, and staples like milk and such but nothing exciting because I restrained myself, haha. I read labels of stuff I've never heard of while shopping, which I don't think is weird but I never see anyone else reading labels so I'm sure some people think it's annoying, haha.

I don't eat dairy anymore but if I did...greek yogurt would be it! I used to love it mixed with a little stevia or jam to make it less sour. The consistency is what I loved the most because it wasn't runny at all.

The eats look lovely, I am eating chickpeas for dinner right now!

I ran out for a quick shop tonight for some spinach, kale, kombucha, dark chocolate, oranges, and wine.

have a good fri lady!

Can I just say that I love the Grandma cartoon especially because my Grandma was sick this week and I am worried about her? This cartoon made me smile.

I haven't tried Greek yogurt, can you believe it? My husband is obsessed with the European style at Trader Joe's which is very liquidy. It works for me especially because I just used it in our breakfast smoothies.

I didn't answer either of your questions. Sorry. :)

Have a great weekend!

OMG! The deer! That is awesome. :)

The last food item I bought was acutally fresh WW buns! Pretty lame. WIsh I coulda said something more exotic. LOL

I really like Greek yogurt, but can't eat a tub fast enough before it spoils. My tum tum only tolerates dairy 1 or 2 days a week tops...

Adorable deer in your back yard! That reminds me of my Grandparent's house... they have lots of wildlife in Upstate, NY.

I buy so many food items I forget!

Well I'm generally very picky about expiration dates on food, so I always root around to the back until I find the best date! ;)

Uhm I thought I posted a message but I don't know if it went through. Lol. I was lamenting about how we never get woodland creatures here. We get lizards though which really isn't appealing much. =S

Mum and I just stocked up on veggies yesterday but the most interesting thing I got recently was fruit cheese which turned out yum! Hehe. Glad I tried it. I think I'm going to have more right about... NOW! x)

Much love,
Nat xoxo

I used to love greek yogurt, before I had to give up dairy. I really like the consistency better than regular yogurt, and I found it so much more filling, so it was always more of a meal than a snack. I don't really miss it much though. Actually the thought of eating it now makes me cringe, but maybe that's because I know what the aftermath is like when I have dairy and its created an aversion.

I am so jealous of furry woodland creatures in your backyard..I know I always say this...but I am. I want them!

Most recent food item from the grocery store...well I usually shop only once a week so I got a whole bunch of things. Lots of fruits, veggies, beans, etc. I used to have a lot of grocery store quirks (like staring at labels for an absurdly long time) but I've let go of those now. I just buy what I want and then I'm ready to go. Hope you have a great night, and happy long weekend love <3 xo

I absolutely adore greek yogurt! And I especially love that brand, I had it on my last visit to your Canada :) enjoy! If I saw it on my grocery store shelves it would definitely call out to me each and every time

Aw, those deer are adorable.

mmm cookies!! there were cookies everywhere at work today and my roommate just ate one in front of me! damn! i had gelato though, so i can't complain :)

I had to really work to like Greek yogurt. It was a good source of calcium and protein while I was pregnant, so I really tried and now I definitely do like it. I'm off dairy at the moment, though, for many reasons, so I'm eating coconut milk yogurt lately.

Last purchase? Um...bananas and a Sweet Leaf Mint and Honey Tea.

Weird habits? I probably have a lot that I am unaware of. I'll have to pay attention next time I shop.

It took me a while to come around to greek yogurt...until I tried Fage. It's more expensive than other brands but totally worth it, especially with some dried fruit, cinnamon and a scoop of PB mixed in. Now I can't get enough of the stuff.

Last grocery store purchase was...some English muffins! And weird habits. Hmmm. I pick things up a lot and exam them even if I know I have no intention of buying them.

Thanks for your sweet words about my injury! I was actually injured back in October and couldn't walk for a while but only now am getting it diagnosed. I was a pretty serious runner back then and haven't run since...it's killing me.

You salads always look so good! Last thing was some ice cream that hubby and I were craving :)

Courtney (Pancakes & Postcards) said... [reply]

I have a tendency to just wander through grocery stores and stare at everything. slowly putting item after item in my cart. then, something snap and i realize that i can't afford hardly anything, so i walk back through the store putting stuff back on the shelves. that is pretty darn weird.

woot woot yay for greek yogurt mess!! totally delicious and filling, no?

hmm most recent purchase...well I got a freshly baked french toast bagel which I can't wait to have! haha

Amy B @ Second City Randomness said... [reply]

I'm crazy when it comes to checking expiration dates on bread and milk and such... I ALWAYS come out with the freshest one. Even if I have to get the milk behind 3 or 4 others...

I actually love Greek yogurt, and liked it straight away. As a kid I always loved the thickness of Yoplait yogurt (which I find too artificial now), so I think that's why I was sold quickly.

My last purchase WAS Greek yogurt - the Oikos kind was on sale, and I had a coupon, so I bought a bunch of them. But then I got a cold, so I have yet to try them. I don't eat much dairy when I'm sick.

I just typed out a long comment but it somehow got deleted :(

Basically it said that greek yogurt in the states is way better than in Canada! I went there and bought this type of greek yogurt called Fage and it was so good!!! It was thicker and creamier than liberte (still 0% fat) and didnt have that strong tang that liberte does. I wish they sold it in Canada..... If you ever go shopping in the states you should pick it up!!!

Lauren @ Health on the Run said... [reply]

I agree with others who say it'll grow on you. But the other thing I'd recommend is to get a flavored one first!! When I first started eating Greek Yogurt I only liked the fruit flavors (or honey). Also...add nut butter. It makes everything taste better. ;)

The most recent thing I bought from the store was actually an entire cartload of groceries. I hadn't done a full grocery shopping trip in a really long time, and things were getting a bit desperate haha. I don't know if I have any quirky habits, except that I sometimes wander around aimlessly, trying to make up my mind about things.

Tina said... [reply]

Ah, how can you not like Greek yogurt?! It's the bestttt

The last thing I bought was some Kashi GoLean Crunch and a couple bananas. To put in my yogurt this morning actually!

I think I have too many quirky habits...

Kady @ Livin, Lovin, Learnin said... [reply]

I'm sure that is one of the most beautiful salads I have ever seen!

At the grocery store, I love to spend time just wandering and finding new products. Then when I want to get something, I spend forever reading labels comparing. I like to go by myself because my friends get annoyed by my indecisiveness!

Lindsay @ http://pancakesnpajamas.blogspot.com/ said... [reply]

I adore Greek yogurt, but it took a while to get me to this point. I used to add splenda and cinnamon every time until I got used to eating plain. Now I have it almost everyday. A weird grocery store habit I have is right when I get in the store I make a beeline for the nut butter section to see if they carry something amazing!

Greek yogurt is NOT my thing and I am half Greek...not like it matters though hahaha

hbobier said... [reply]

Last purchase was at Target. Bought a new dress, ruffley tank top, necklace, bananas and apples.

My life is so exciting, I know.

I love all your woodland animal pictures but I'd be terrified if a deer came that close to me!

Do you sweeten your Greek yogurt with anything? I only like it if I sweeten it with a little sugar or Agave...or I buy Vanilla flavored Greek Yogurt. I definitely prefer the thickness of Greek yogurt compared to regular yogurt..although I like that most regular yogurts have Vitamin D in them...Greek does not!

The last food item I bought was an Oreo McFlurry from Mcdonalds...my third ice cream in one week! LOL! :)

runnerforever said... [reply]

I think you definitely need to try a flavored greek yogurt. I remember the first time that I tried the plain one and hated it haha.

Lola said... [reply]

OMG you've got deer on your backyard? how awesome is that!! I've never tried greek yogurt, I don't even know if they sell greek yogurt in Mexico!
I love to mix fruit with my salads, the sweet-savory combo is so good and refreshing!! Maybe some mango would taste delicious in a salmon salad with greens :)
Have a nice weekend!

It took me a while to get used to Greek yogurt, but now I am hooked. I do pour a touch of agave nectar in it though - so that helps! :D

Kris | iheartwellness.com said... [reply]

Honestly hun, i have no idea what the difference is with greek yogurt? I know a lot of people eat it and its all a buzz lately...I have never had it!

Mmm i could eat some cookies right now as well! I might just bake some :)

Your salad looks very tasty! I love berries with spinach.

I always stick to the same route when in grocery shopping mode. When I used to eat meat I would put plastic bags on my hands to pick up the packaged meat. For some reason I always think they leak! Eww!

aww those animal pics melt me!

good that you dont like greek yogurt. Dairy, not really so much a fan of it :)

Love the foodie pics, they are so bright and vibrant and lovely!

thx for your super sweet words to me :)

and at the groc store, my entire cart consists of plants. i spend a half hour just bagging up produce and putting it in my cart :) 2-3x/week!

:)

Gina; The Candid RD said... [reply]

My suggestion would be to go ahead and buy the 2% Greek yogurt. The difference is remarkable. I never buy the 0%, I'm not a fan. I also love to add berries and a bit of sweetener. It's also good mixed in oats!

Blue Eyed Heart said... [reply]

I'm with you on the "no Greek yogurt" thing. But only because I've never actually been able to try it. :p

<3 <3

Christina said... [reply]

I tend to take a really long time staring at things in the grocery store. And then grabbing something, putting it back, and then finally putting it in my cart. I only have so much money so I want to make sure if I buy something, it's worth it!

Most recent purchase: peanut butter filled pretzels :)

Chelsea said... [reply]

I'm not sold on the taste of Greek yogurt either. I always mix it with vanilla yogurt to tone down the flavour. Or Liberte also makes a vanilla flavoured Greek yogurt that tastes MUCH better. :)

That salad looks so delicious and colourful!

B said... [reply]

Oh my gosh those deer are in your backyard? That's too cool. I get overly excited when I see a bunny run through our condo complex. I hear ya on the laziness. I haven't been to the gym in like 4 or 5 days, UGH it's so hard to get back once you stop.

My most recent purchase? Pumpernickle Bread!!

Ashlei said... [reply]

You should give the FAGE 2% a try! It's so much more creamy and delicious....like regular yogurt but with the extra protein. I love regular yogurt too though the non-fat greek yogurt tastes gross to me too.

The deer pictures are so cute! :) I love animals

Heather (Where's the Beach) said... [reply]

Do you like the flavor of plain yogurt? I think you need to like plain yogurt first b/c Greek yogurt (plain anyway) is going to be a more concentrated flavor. I love Greek yogurt and love the thickness of it. Maybe try another brand too.

I went to Whole Foods yesterday, so I bought a lot of goodies that I just HAD to have.

Anonymous said... [reply]

Your parfait bowl looks pretty wonderful - what is it about parfaits that makes them OUT OF THIS WORLD??

I am getting used to the Greek stuff too...I like it but its probably not my #1 choice.

Adrien said... [reply]

I'm not even allowed to jump on the yogurt bandwagon- I'm into goat yogurt, and to be honest, it doesn't even hold a candle to the regular stuff.. but nothing beats Liberte yogurts, the 10% MF ones are INSANE!

Gina said... [reply]

i can't take the sour taste of greek yogurt, i wish it tasted sweeter
