Hug a Fruit

It finally feels like summer around here!!!

And to celebrate the HOT weather, I had a muffin
for breakfast: Wheat-free Blueberry Pecan Streusel :)

I have Green Cuisine's Cookbook, so i'm going to attempt to make one of these.
I will list the muffin recipes and let you vote on which one you think I should try!

Made a Grilled Egg and Spinach Wrap for Lunch

Oh and then I whipped out this bar to snack on from my box of
goodies I posted yesterday! I was going to try the trail mix first,
but I tried this NuGo Free Dark Chocolate Crunch Bar a long time
ago and loved it... so I decided to start with what I know I love

It's SO GOOD! A couple of people said they don't like these that much. I find
the chocolate flavor insanely delicious! It's pretty powerful for such a simple bar

I think i'm going to try the brownie bits tomorrow! I just
need to pick up some yogurt tonight to mix them in hehe :)

Not only do I have such wonderful blog friends, I have a
totally rad Portuguese neighbor who grows his own organic
garden. He actually uses no sprays whatsoever.. just mineral-rich soil, air,
water, and sunshine. When I came home I found this bundle of Beets.
I need to make a beet and beet greens soup soon, that'll be delicious!!!

Lastly, do you remember the 'Hug a Fat' post I did?
Well Katie is celebrating the Summer with 'Hug a Fruit'

Right away I knew which fruit I would hug... CHERRIES!

Question: What fruits has
your belly been hugging lately?

31 Degrees Celsius baby! Hot hot hot!

Srawberries and cantaloupes. My tummy always hugs bananas and apples, but sometimes I need some other fruits, too. I need to get some cherries, everyone is causing cravings for me! I adore cherries so much. Once again, I think that muffin looks scrumptious!

That muffin looks seriously awesome! I can't wait to see what you whip up from that cookbook...no matter what it will be delicious.

I've been all about peaches lately. They replaced apples as my need-to-have-one-a-day fruit.

The summer has finally decided to show up around here as well, and it's so nice to see the sun after a week or so of rain. It's also really nice to see those muffins of yours ;) Can't wait to see which one you decide to bake up.

I've been loving me some mangoes lately... and blueberries... and strawberries... It's hard to pick just one!

Anonymous said... [reply]

I've also been hugging cherries lately. I bought so many at the farmer's market last weekend!

Isn't it nice to have neighbors like that. I just finished oatmeal with cherries and blueberries. I feel like I've been eating tons of fruit lately - maybe that's just indicative of summer.

The trail mix bar is odd -- I REALLY disliked it the first time I tried it, but now I like it. Weird.

I love cherries too! If only they didn't have those annoying pits... ;)

Yes! Make muffins! I think that's what I'm going to do this afternoon!

I always make sure to hug bananas at least once daily, but lately I've been giving out extra hugs to nectarines, berries, and melon!

Seriously, awesome looking muffin!

Oh, you know you know you know the way to my heart, Kelsey. Muffins? <3333

It's SO hot here that I'm pretty sure half of my brain is cooked and some proteins and enzymes have been denatured in there. I blame the heat for my lack of concentration in class. Can I also blame the heat for my bad midterm mark? WEATHER FAIL.

I love cherries too but how did you manage to get such a big bowl?? Are you in possession of a cherry-tree?!?!?!

I love bosc pears. A LOT. And figs. And persimmons. :-)

I have a TON of cherries in the icebox that vie been working on all week. :)

The muffins that you have been having for breakfast of late make me hungry everytime I see them!

Anonymous said... [reply]

Heyy love, you look so pretty in that picture! Your expression is like a child discovering the deliciousness of a cherry for the very first time. So gorgeous. And I'm jealous of your giant bowl of cherries.

And I'm so glad you liked the bar! I know some people have said they don't like them, but I've tried them before and I think they are awesome. 9 g of protein, chocolate, and gluten/soy free AND vegan? Sounds pretty good to me. And they taste good! Glad you agree.

Oh and one more thing I'm jealous of (as if one thing isn't enough)- your neighbour with an organic garden! I need to find one of those...I struggle with finding the organic produce I want sometimes, they just don't carry it all the the local grocery store. But I really love to support organic farming and I think organic tastes better too. I don't want to get into the whole healthier or not debate, because it is one of those heated topics...but I personally do prefer organic.

As for my fruits- I have been hugging lots of berries (all kinds) and pluots (they are such cute little stone fruits).

Erin said... [reply]

wow, that muffin looks so delish!! I have been adoring organice berries lately!www.thehealthyapron.com

Anonymous said... [reply]

mmmmm I love all fruits!! Well not all, but tons!! Grapes are probably my all time favorite!

Laury@TheFitnessDish said... [reply]

My belly has been hugging these uber DELISH organic purple plums!!!

I don't know the last time I had a muffin...and the more I visit your blog, the more I WANT ONE!

I love the squirrel cherry pics....you are such a cutie!!

it's my dream to have an organic farm..wish there was one close by... We have quite a few farms, but I would assume they all use things that I am not too fond of the keep the buggys out :(

I'm glad the weather is finally summery for you! I once contemplated moving to Victoria, but I would miss winter - I love to play outdoor hockey.

All your food always looks insanely yummy! I may do an experiment and try a gluten free diet for a week or two just because. I want to see if it makes a difference on how I feel.

My boyfriend is Portuguese! They have some really yummy foods (and some not so yummy, haha)

The fruit my belly is hugging lately is peaches and nectarines.

A neighbor with an organic garden?!! I'm kind of jealous. Well, more like a lot jealous! - Vicky

I just ate a whole lot of cherries, too! Together with blueberries and grapes...god I love summer!

And I love that muffin; love that its top is humongous! the best part!

Anonymous said... [reply]

Your muffins always look so good. I'm jealous.

If I could hug a fruit, I'd choose a blueberry. They're one of my favorites, and I just started harvesting them from our bush in the front yard.

Kris said... [reply]

Cherries!!!!! I can eat cherries until the cows come home!

YUM!

Ok, you are killing me with these vegan bars you always have. Where did you get this one from??
