I Want You To Eat A Rainbow!

If you're looking for colour, you've come to the right post!
Let's begin with a sliced Green Granny Smith Apple and a Red Pear

Astro Original Organic Balkan Style Plain Yogourt

Mixed together with a warm brown hue of Saigon Cinnamon

Eating with your eyes is half of the "meal experience"

Now this packs a lot of colour, but wait!? What am I doing amidst European Villas?

Look a little further...

It's just a painting! We picked it up over the
weekend to add more colour to our living room :)

There's an abundance of warm yellows in this Egg and Cheese Baked Burrito

Scrambled Eggs, Scallions, Onions, Cheese, and Black Pepper in a Brown Rice Tortilla

Remember when I told you about my generous neighbour
who brings me fresh produce from his organic garden?

Well he brought me Fresh Organic Spinach... notice the difference from
regular store-bought spinach? This is how spinach is supposed to look like!

I used a good chunk of my new spinach in a super colourful Stir-Fry

Green Vegetables: Broccoli, Green Beans, Spinach, Celery and Brussel Sprouts. Red
Vegetables: Beets and Red Onion. Orange Vegetables: Acorn Squash and Kabocha Squash

Challenge: I challenge you to "Eat a Rainbow"
...not literally, well maybe! Notice which colours your body is
naturally drawn to eat; warm colours, cool colours, no colours?

I'm naturally drawn to orange foods - cantaloupe, oranges, squah. I also love my greens!

That stirfry is beautiful :) Foodwise I find my body tends to balance out its colours. If I overdo the orange (butternut...mmmmmmmmmm...), then I'll get massive cravings for greens. It gets different urges at different times of the day, too. Evenings tend to be orange and green, while mornings are more yellow and red right now - specifically in the form of bananas and strawberries from our garden (the strawberries, not the bananas. I'm not sure Scotland is capable of growing bananas..).

I want to eat that stir-fry!
I love colourful salads and other dishes:
The combination of green (broccoli, green beans), red (red pepper, tomatoes) and yellow (corn!) = super!

What beautiful colors there are in your food! :D My body wants for warm colors mostly - carrots, kabocha, red onion, tomatoes, beets, etc - but I also like some green in my foods, at least plenty of fresh herbs.

I'm definitely drawn to warm colours! Yellow bananas, orange pumpkin, red raspberries...

That's such a pretty painting. I wish I could just plop myself into that scene for real! ;)

I've always wanted to do a post like this...remarkably it is so EASY when we eat healthy and nearly impossible without veggies, huh?
I always trip up on the blue, besides blueberries.
I really don't think there are any more blue foods. Everything else looks purple. Like blue potatoes and blue corn.
Also, why are only olives black? Or am I forgetting something....rhetorical question.

Ahhh I LOVE seeing your colourful stir-fries!! I made a nice stir-fry with veggies from the farm for dinner today - not quite as colourful as yours, but pretty good.

What a great message, Kelsey! Eating the rainbow is the perfect way to make sure you're getting in a variety of nutrients and other good things - not to mention, it tastes great! I like my veggies to be as bright as possible. I especially love bright, crisp, red bell pepper, mmmm :D

I *love* eating the rainbow! There's such a collection of flavors and nutrients that abound from this sort of thing. Love it.

Great post, great message! :D

I love the way red pears look when they are cut up. I just can't stand the texture of pears...give me an apple any day over a pear.
