Grilling in the Sun and on the Stove

One of my favorite summer past-times is
spending the afternoon sun bathing/tanning

Unlike Victoria, Calgary is void of beaches, which means I have to
trek over to the nearest park to lay down my towel and soak up the sun

Before you assume I'm vain for taking quite a few pictures
of myself, just know that my addiction to my camera and
photography extends well beyond images of food or nature

Sunglasses I bought from work; La Vie En Rose

And after grilling in the sun for a few hours,
nothing sounded better than grilled cheese

A Grilled Cheese and Fried Egg Sandwich

With ketchup on the side

I started by spreading a little butter/margarine onto one side of bread, then
placed it into a medium hot skillet. Next, I top the dry side of bread with a slice
of processed cheddar cheese,  cover with the other slice of bread, then spread a
little more butter on the top side of the bread for when I flip the sandwich over

While that cooks, I crack an egg into a small
non-stick skillet, cover, and gently cook/fry it up

When the grilled cheese sandwich is done I carefully open it up, add
the egg, season with black pepper, and put the sandwich back together

I have so much fun creating and re-inventing childhood favorites

Questions: How do you make your grilled
cheese sandwiches? Have you ever added eggs,
ham, vegetables or other ingredients to them?

Egg on a grilled cheese sandwich!!?? GENIUS. I will be trying that very soon!

How exactly did you get the egg in there. Did you fry it up and then put it between the bread and then grill it?

I love adding avocado to my grilled cheese. It's extra good with pepper jack cheese!

I've never tried adding fried egg, but that looks really good! I usually eat mine plain, but I love when I remember ketchup for dunking - it makes it so much better :) Sometimes I'll add a lentil pattie or a few slices of tomato for kicks.

I love dill pickles with my grilled cheese :) Or red pepper jelly. Or ham, of course.
