Of course we know I haven't been able to give up my Sweet Potato addiction yet!
My stomach has adapted to the amount I eat (5-7) and pretty much expects it haha
I could spend hours talking about how amazing Orange, Yellow,
After my record toppling of 7 Sweet Potatoes, I decided that instead of trying
to build my mountain higher, I should just invest in a bigger base instead...
And since some of you were asking, I think you can find the baking
temperatures for my Oven Roasted Sweet Potatoes on my Recipes Page
Question: Do you have any food ruts or
addictions you're looking to release in 2011?

Seeing as I'm pretty sure the amount of sugar I eat each day will either make my digestive system go on strike or give me early onset diabetes (I'm kind of kidding, kind of serious), I'm making a serious pledge to trade in a lot of my simple sugars for quality proteins this year. I'm putting it in writing, tellin my friends, and going for it.
Your sweet potato/ potato mountains are cute :)
You know I love your potatoes! I don't think I have any ruts I want to change, but I do want to eat more locally and in season. I really want to work on my gardening skills.
I like Averie's mentality of it's not a rut, it's a groove. I eat a lot of the same things over and over again, but they nourish my body and keep me healthy so I don't care! :)
Hah, nice! That is one instance where super-sizing is a good idea ;)
One thing I will be trying to eat less of is bread/crackers and hummus! Or at least, replacing the wheat bread with millet or some other variety that agrees better with my stomach.
hahaha I can't believe you eat soooo many sweet potatoes! I mean I love them too, but usually only one at a time.
For 2011, I want to work on eating less processed bread. That's the one thing I'm bad about eating processed.
I seriously don't know how you do it... that's a crazy amount of SP's for sure!
I'd like to start doing more variety in my side dishes- other than just heating up a frozen veggie like I normally do... :)
*giggle* I can't even answer your question...except to say I want to overcome my addiction to my food rut! *winkwink*
I just had a sweet potato with almond butter ala HEAB last night. So good! You should try it. Wait...acctually Im not even sure if you like nut butters...
I want to make your squirrely potatoes and dip them in a spicy peanut dip.

your commitment to sweet potato greediness really astounds me every time...and you deserve an award. really!
Sweet potatoes are a good addiction to have, my friend. :)
I'm just looking for balance with my eating again. My tastes are all sorts of funky during pregnancy.
I will miss your mountains, but I think it's wise that you invested in a more suitable eating vessel!
I'm not really looking to change my eating in the new year. I know what bothers my stomach, and I don't miss those foods anymore. I'm pretty happy all around!
I really love sweet potatoes too. I don't think I have any addictions. I'm slowly weaning myself off the pumpkin. Sad, I know - but far too many people are commenting on my orange hands.
I kind of want to start eating MORE sweet potatoes. Is that silly? I tried my first one (and loved it!) this year and i've been trying to bring them into the house whenever I can find organic ones =)
In 2011 i'd like to eat less cheese... i'm way too addicted to the stuff. Instead of desserts I seek out cheese or goldfish crackers. i'm nuts. haha
xoXOxo

I am in love with SWEET POTATOES too! I can eat them completely plain, but your spices sound de-vine!
If I could expell my night-time sweet tooth, I would be so much better off!
Love the titlae of your blog by the way!!!
So I was wanting a snack before work and couldn't decide on anything...until I remembered I had a couple purple sweet potatoes in the drawer. Roasted one up, and now I'm chowing down. But man, I have no clue how you eat 5 - 7 in a sitting - this one is filling enough!
I can't say I have a food rut or addiction I'd like to kick in 2011. I just want to incorporate some foods into my eats more often like beans and grains. Plus I figure they'll make easy take and go fare for my long days at school :)
I also love sweet potatoes but not quite with the same enthusiasm as you haha. Food addiction? Not really but I could cut back on sugar a little more!
haha my food rut.. not eating. or eating very certain things... and measuring
I should get out of that rut
can I come over for some sweet potatos? I will eat them for you.. i will help you break your addiction! ;) XO
I've been avoiding animal foods for a while now and since I'm anemic I'm thinking of incorporating them back into my life. Actually, I had greek yogurt this morning which is a good start and my mom offered to buy me free-range meat once a week so I can at least have peace of mind as far as where my meat is coming from. Hopefully I'll feel better with these changes! :)
I loveee sweet potatos too.
But apples are my weakness. As in knee trembling weakness.
I've downed 6 in the last 24 hours.
Its a very expesnive addiction! Might as well start smoking! haha
JK
at least mine is a semi-healthy addcition, as is yours! ;)
lol
You should check out my new recipe today!
you are hysterical-- the only way i can eat sweet potatoes is if they're pureed. weird right? my stomach doesn't handle it well. these look soo appetizing though!
I love sweet potatoes too! My rut this year will be sugar. It has been an overindulging holiday season and I'm ready for some detox.
I'm addicted to all orange foods! I would dive headfirst into that mountain :)
I'm in a banana rut, but that's not something I want to change! I love my daily banana. :D
But I definitely want to start experimenting with more new recipes in 2011! I got the cookbook "Clean Food" for Christmas and it has some amazing recipes that I want to try out!
I was in a sweet potato rut for about 6 months but it has FINALLY faded away. I know, I know, I'm shocked too. Did I see this day coming? Nope.. but it has. It's kind of sad but I have a feeling the sweet potato rut will return.
i love sweet potatoes a lot!
i used to be quite addicted to oatmeal, but i am kind of growing out of that phase right now. :)
Wait - why would you WANT to release Sweet Potatoes?!! I've been eating them every night :) Great with beans, veggies and meat.
Do you eat that whole tray at once?
A while ago the Today Show featured a man who ate nothing, and I mean NOTHING but sweet potatoes for almost 2 months. Just sweet potatoes - not even any toppings. But different methods - baked, mashed, etc.
He was doing it to debunk the myths of carbohydrates causing weight gain. He lost weight and cholesterol went down.
But DUH - overall his calories were low! - And if people gain weight eating carbs - it's usually because they're eating a plethora of carbs, refined carbs or obviously eating carbs with a BUNCH of other foods! Eating just one food - no matter what it is - will cause you to lose or maintain.
He did acknowledge this though thank Goodness. He also said he should have included about 5 more potatoes a day to keep up his calorie content - so a total of 25/day.
Sorry - didn't mean to write a novel there ;)
Lol at your super sized bowl, Kelsey! As much as I love your bowl, I sure am going to miss your sweet potato mountains! Hope you have a happy new year filled with lots of joy, good health, and great foodie adventures!
I feel you on the sweet potato addiction, Kelsey!
I've been eating at least one sweet potato a day for a while now... I'm obsessed about it, too :D
Oh, and PB. I discovered it recently, and I'm just loving it!
I love your super sized bowl! Nothing wrong with that!
I need to stop eating things that aren't gluten-free. I've been really bad about it lately and my eczema is out of control as a result!
Happy New Year! I hope that 2011 is a wonderful one for you...
Isn't it funny how our bodies can grow to 'expect' certain meals? :P I know I always have a bowl of overnight oats before bed, drowned in tahini... and I always feel like my body is waiting for it! Haha.
Your sweeties look absolutely delish! Can I come over for dinner?
Wow! That is a LOT of potatoes! I'm actually just getting into them, my mom roasts them like you do and they are delicious. I'm going to have to start making these more often :)
Can I get that over here? I would love some sweet taters but I love fast (time-wise not restaurants) food! They take so long to cook. Do you ever put ketchup on yours?
Katherine
a sweet potato addiction is the PERFECT addiction to have :) nothing wrong with that! tastes great with cashew butter too!
Wait.. did you eat all of those potatoes you roasted?
Ahhh, those look SOOOO GOOD! My dad went to the store today and I told him to get me 2 sweet potatoes and he came back with 2 of the smallest sweet taters I've ever seen. Haha, oh well. But your mountainous potatoes have been finding me in my dreams and I've been craving them!! So I came to your blog today to see EXACTLY how you do them! Now I'm off to go make some!
