Saturday Solstice

It's Saturday! Congratulations, you made it through another
work week! And for that, Tazo Zen Green Tea is in order ;)

Even though I have been reducing my overall sugar consumption, I decided
to treat myself to a Francine's Finest Chocolate & Pumpkin Seed Butter Bar

I'm thinking I need to give a couple away as a giveaway since you can
only get them in certain parts of B.C. They're absolutely giveaway worthy!

I love picking off and eating the pumpkin seeds first, it's become a habit :)

Because it's Saturday, I went downtown to do some shopping and tea drinking...

A few people keep telling me about Solstice Cafe, but I never went inside until today

It's a trendy and cozy little coffee joint. They make breakfast and lunch items
to order, as well as desserts... in particular a special little gluten-free muffin. Unfortunately, they didn't have any in the display case today :(

"HIPPIES USE BACKDOOR... no exceptions" haha

Solstice Cafe on Urbanspoon

After a little shopping, I picked up a Cabbage Roll
from Lifestyle Markets before heading home...

Apologies for my grubby fingers making a mess out of the sauce lol

Have a lovely Saturday everyone!
Go outside, enjoy, treat yourself, and
soak up that fresh weekend air!

I would enjoy the fresh weekend air...if it wasn't -47! I'll enjoy the circulated warm indoor air for now. Have a good weekend!

A giveaway for those bars? Yes, please! I've been looking for them everywhere and I can't find them. :( I thought that the Whole Foods in Vancouver would have them for sure but so far that's a no. At least for the 2 I've visited. Where do you get yours?

Mmm zen tea! I've been drinking tea like crazy lately, my favorite today is yogi ginger & lemon tea.

I actually love Francine's Finest protein bars (as well as the Francine's Superbars...love that rice crispy crunch!) so so much. I tried the protein bars for the first time when we did our blog exchange, and I loved them so much that when someone I knew went to Victoria I asked them to bring me back a stash of bars. They started disappearing pretty quickly (although I still have a few left that I am savouring). Anyway, I really hope you will do a giveaway (nudge nudge wink wink) because I have an obsession with them and there is nothing like them around here.
Why can't I order them online? So sad :(
Hope you're having a great weekend lovely xoxo

How do you feel about eating at? I love to but can't always afford it or just think I should eat what I have at home. Actually - I think I worry more that I'll just eat twice as much because when I get home, I just "have" to have my foods too.

I suck.

Zen tea is a favorite! They also have a white tea with cucumber that is AMAZING but I can't for the life of me remember what it is called...

That cafe looks very cute! Too bad you couldn't try the gluten free muffin, it's always disappointing when you look forward to trying something and then can't. Sounds like you had a wonderful Saturday!

Ok I've decided that Victoria has waaaaay better coffee shops than Vancouver. I love the sign announcing that hippie use the back door! So funny!

Looks like a wonderful weekend!

I always covet your protein bars so from an entirely selfish point of view I would love to see a giveaway featuring them. And I wish I could pick up something like that cabbage wrap randomly on a morning walk ~ it's a struggle to find anything vegan locally around here, let alone something as delicious as that.

I hope your Sunday is/was as lovely as your Saturaday :)

Solstice looks like such a cute little place! :)

Carlyn said... [reply]

mm that cabbage roll looks great! (and a little messy!) I once tried making cabbage rolls that had a grain mixture with dried currants that was cooked in a slow cooker with apple juice but it turned out way to acidic ): We had to throw out the leftovers, and we NEVER throw out leftovers! Maybe I'll try making something like it again... (just not the same recipe)

Carlyn said... [reply]

hahah I just found the recipe

looks like it should have been good right?

Didn't you find Solstice kinda smelled like...B.O.? I went in there to see my friend's photography show, and could not stand the smell. Definitely wouldn't have stayed to have coffee!
