Superfoods, Sushi, and Salads

Found these new bars at Lifestyle Markets

Freedom Bars Nutty Cacao with Hemp

You know a bar is 100% natural when you can visibly
see every single ingredient that went into making it!

A deliciously sweet blend of walnuts, pumpkin seeds, hazelnuts, coconut,
almonds, cacao nibs and powder, almonds, hemp seeds, quinoa puffs, etc.

Dense. Chewy. Sweet. Satisfying.

Veggie Combo Sushi from Sushi Village Foods

Brown rice with cucumber, avocado, carrot, and lettuce

Eaten sans chopsticks... still a newbie

And remember my first experience with drinking Kombucha?

I'm happy to report that I have acquired a taste for this stuff!

GT's Organic Raw Multi-Green Kombucha

It's like Mountain Dew for "Granola Kids" haha

Lastly, I want to show off this beautiful salad...

My mom made me this Seasoned Lemon Chicken
Salad with Roasted Red Pepper and Feta Dressing

Served with a side of cottage cheese

One of the best dinners in a long time. Thank you Mom!

Question: When was the last time someone
you love surprised you with a home cooked meal?

Jason surprised me last week and I loved that he decided to make dinner! Usually I make it -- I enjoy cooking for the two of us, but once in a while he decides to cook and he always does such a good job!

I know true that about being able to see all the ingredients when it's all-natural :D

That bar looks really good. As does the salad. My mom offered to cook me dinner a couple weekends ago. It was fabulous. I LOVE having people cook for me. :)

Oh my gosh... the last time I was given the surprise of a home cooked meal was when M was courting me, and he made me pizza from SCRATCH. That sealed the deal right there!

Hmmm... I think it was Memorial Day and my mom made so cookout food. When I got to their house to pic up my daughter dinner was served.

Mmm, looks good! :D

I honestly can't remember when somebody cooked for me the last time. My mom cookes when I'm staying with my parents, but it's not susprise cookeing because I know she will. I always love what she makes, btw. :)

Now that I'm home for the summer, I usually help out with making dinner every night. Sometimes if I'm feeling lazy though I'll let my parents do all the work! :P

That salad does look amazing! I love when my boyfriend cooks...he doesn't think that he's a great cook, but he's awesome.

Sushi AND Kombucha?! You had an awesome day! The Cosmic Cranberry is my personal favorite, though the Green is good, too. Usually, I am the one surprising someone with a meal! I honestly can't think of the last time I was surprised.... not that I mind, of course! I just hadn't really thought of it.... hmmm....

Lol at "it's like mountain dew for granola kids." You're simply too cute, Kelsey. It's been way too long since someone surprised me with a home cooked meal. I'm usually the one to cook. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

I'm living alone so... no surprises for me. I'd be delighted by such a delicious surprise.

Don't worry about the chopsticks. It takes time to get used to them and at first you really don't want to be around people when you drop the food in your lap :D . I envy the Japanese for their ability to eat almost anything with hashi (the Japanese word for chopsticks). They can even bone fish with them.

Yum! All looks good! :D
I love vegetarian sushi! It's fun to make it yourself as well! I make them with tofu, which is a great replacement if you don't want the raw fish! It takes some practicing but it's so much fun! :D

1. I miss Lifestyles Market. They need one over here.
2. Love that green kombucha - it's my fave flavour.
3. Technically, sushi is supposed to be finger food, so eating with your hands is a-ok! Only us westerners use chopsticks.
